What I Wish Skyrim Had

Post » Thu Jun 14, 2012 3:39 pm

Ehh, I hope you meant that the extended time would've been from the start not that - you know, Skyrim would be released in 11.11.13.
That would be nice, but it would mean no FO3. And that's not a fair trade IMO

PC gamers to stop saying "Wait for the mods". Not all of us can afford a $1000+ machine to run anything resembling a modern game on.

Wait for DLC, then. I'm sure Bethesda will add in things that fans would like. Not all, but some.

Of course, DLC is not free, while mods are...

I'm with you there.

Why are the modders so happy about getting to clean up the mess Bethesda made? Why does the community wave off the developer's lack of fore-thought or consideration for what the community has been forced to mod in to the game before?

I understand the love for custom content, your personal armors, homes and weapons, that is what modding is for, not for cleaning up every loose end which the people getting paid for developing the game should have looked after.

I shouldn't need a gaming rig to modify the redundant and empty minded AI behavior or the various aspects of crafting in the game that were either completely ignored or missed. Nor should I need one to fix broken quests, add a Khajiit mates, or add economies or other dynamics that were falsly advertised, or sold to us if you prefer, by Todd.

I should not need an expensive computer to make up for what Bethesda missed, cut or fell short on in overall design concept, in their CONSOLE DEVELOPED game.

I shouldn't need to do Bethesda's job for them...

The only thing Skyrim needs is a deeper magic system. More spells, more variation.

I miss the 'Open' spell...

Yep, Open I miss, and Pack Mule. More spells would be nice, but I do like how they simplified things. There *were* 30 different open easy lock spells that *could* be purchased, or worse yet, already have one and have one given to you. I hated filtering through a bunch of crap I already had. The spell system has been improved for sure, but lost some great stuff to it as well.

I wish Skyrim had longer and better guild quests, I was really disappointed with them.

Also, better horse animations would be cool as well as a fast horse. I find it ridiculous that I can run faster than my "noble" steed.

Ok, so this I'm not quite on board with. If you wanted every little detail panned out before release, the game would never be released. The best test environment for a game is in the homes of the players. You also have to look at the fact that it is not neccisarly a lack of forethought, but the more likley issue of a budget that puts limits on what you can and can't do. You pan out the game as best you can, and this game is pretty great even with its various issues, release it and then tweak it with the revenue of the sales to make it better for the players with their input. Why are we part of a forum but to discuss issues that arrise as well as to be part of a community of people with similar interests. Modders are, in my eyes, a welcomed member of the community with great ideas and benifit us all. They are happy because they are Script Rats (meant as a term of endearment, not as a dis) and they are doing what they like to do.

As far as mods being for custom content and personalized this and that, don't forget that a patch is a glorified mod and patches are inevitable.

And remember, you don't need a stellar machine to do the mods, because the Modder's will already do it, you just have to sit back and enjoy their work. Don't stress bud, it's a game, enjoy it.

Why do people still keep saying this? You don't need to spend even half that to get a PC that will run Skyrim.

That's alright, I hear there's a firefox mod to block talk about mods in your browser.

I hear there is also a mod in beta that allows you to compile gaming machines that can run modern games for under 500$, but some claim that's a vanilla feature..

Conclusion: Wait for mods. They'll fix anything and everything that may or may not be wrong with this game.
Most TES fans can't access mods. Op's issues most likely won't change in this game or DLC.
What I'd like most in skyrim are some unique weapons. Not chillrend. I like unique skins. Ice blade of the monarch, chrysamere, umbra. And some unique bows.

I think it's that most people don't know how to find a good PC for a good price, they nothing about specs. I bought/built my PC for £500 two years ago and it's really good but then my friend bought a PC of the same level specs a year later for around double the price. Also mods are quite complicated to the average gamer, although the partnership with Valve has rectified this a little.

The things I would love Bethesda to try to incorporate into Skyrim or any future sequels focus mainly on your character's helper/horse.

1.) I would love to have two simultaneous helpers, making it sort of like a gang. Imagine having one helper a mage, another a barbarian, and you a thief or all three of you the same classs, any combination, eh?

2.) Let's take it a bit futher. Customizing your helper/helpers! It would be nice to give them perks to focus on, but if I'm asking too much, being able to name them, change their facial features, clothing, and weapons will be good enough. ( I understand you can somewhat control what your helper wears/uses as weapon, but it is very limited.)

3.) It seems kinda mean to ride around on a steed when your helper has to hoof it by themselves. I know the game usually makes them disappear and reappear when you have stopped along your journey, but why not be able to purchase a horse for them. And when they don't own one of their own let them ride with you on your horse. If falling off cliffs or some other stupid thing that could easliy kill your helper while on their horse is the problem then why not make them immune to damage taken from falling off mountains?

4.) I would love to be able to chop a dude's head off while I'm on horseback! Shoot some arrows or throw some fireballs while on your horse. Can you imagine fighting a dragon ( or your whole gang ) while doing circles around it on your horse delievering punishment if you have the skill? It could be incorporated as a perk even.

Well, that is my two cents for now.

1. Any possible way to add additional playable members to the party. Think old school Wizardry 8 or later Might and Magic.

2. To be able to control the characters live by their level would be fantastic, round robin D&D style, with an automatic vs manual choice per character.

3. i would shell out the bucks too for an XBOX 360 Mouse and Keyboard setup.

4. The XBOX 360 D pad with 2 slots makes it a bit difficult for magic spells compared to a PC.
