What to do with money

Post » Mon May 28, 2012 11:35 am

So, i simply have to much money (about 15000) and i don't know what to do with it. I'm only level 14 and have one house (in windhelm).
Also, the shopkeepers don't have enough money to sell my stuff, is there a way to increase their amount of money?

AND last but not least, i've overheard a guard in Markarth saying there was an expensive house there. I WANT IT! but, I did some quests for the jarl and the old guy sitting next to him to the point they don't give me new speaking options anymore. BUT I still can't buy the house (the jarl said somthing in the beginning like: i don't trust you enough for a house, first do some stuff for me). But now that i've did some stuff, the option "i want to buy a house" isn't there in the speech menu anymore.

So, basically three questions, but the anweser to the last question might also be the anweser to the first one.

Thx in advance!

I think you need to do some quests for the citizens of Markarth (like 3 or 5). Then the jarl will deem you 'worthy'. I think that's how it works. Don't know about the money stuff though.

The most expensive house in the game is in Solitude. You have to perform a few quest for the Jarl and townsfolk, as with any house. Fully upgraded it cost about 35k

Some traders will get more gold once you've done their personal quests, not all traders have those though.

It's the same with all houses (apart from Whiterun which is related to main quest) - do one "large" quest for the Jarl and 3-5 smaller quests for random people in the City.

You definitely need to do the small quests for the townspeople, it will solve both your problems. First, doing those little quests gets the Jarl to offer you the house. Second, doing a small quest for individual shopkeepers increases the amount of gold they have on hand to buy your stuff.

Or you can improve your speechcraft and unlock the investing perk in that tree. Then the store clerks will have more money and you will get a cut of the profits.

I'm not sure why people are always swimming in money. I spend mine on trainers.

Also, if you're having vendor money problems, getting the 3rd perk in Speech allows you to sell any item to any vendor. So find a trainer that trains in something you need (like Heavy Armor) who is also a vendor... selling problem solved.

I have yet to spend on a trainer. I level everything by doing it, which invariably leads me into more money. I think maybe once I own all the houses I'll go build a tower of gold or something.

I don't know, spending money on trainers just seem wrong when it is so easy to train your stuff while playing the game instead of pressing "enter" a lot when talking to a trainer

I've bought training and houses, still carrying over 40000 .. I'm glad money doesn't weigh anything ;)
I think I'll find myself a pot, and try to throw single coins in it.

Anyone know how to get the one in Windhelm? Only one i don't have, but everytime i ask, he mentions some unpleasant incident and says i can't have it yet.
