What's with the lag?

Post » Tue May 10, 2011 11:08 pm

Maybe it's just me, but I've noticed that

Bittersprings
Camp Forlorn Hope
Freeside (specifically around that little boy with Mick and Ralphs)
Camp McCarran (Exterior area)
and the Crimson Caravan, can be bad about lagging at times.

Is there any specific reasons for this? Oddly I've noticed these are also all exterior cells that are lagging.

It could be that they have something glitching... An item stuck in the floor maybe?

I had some slow down frame rate at freeside but thats about it for me.

Well it's just curious that the game lags at times (for me at least) in these areas specifically)

I've only had noticeable game lag in freeside.

That was one time though.

It could be that your system is just trying to render too many things at once. My game only really slows down when I get around a ton of things that are moving; even then only if one, some, or all of them moving objects are glitching in some way.

I got lucky. I never purchased the warranty for my first Xbox when I bought it but when the RROD sprung up I sent it in and Microsoft fixed it for free anyway :celebration:

Now I have an Xbox 360 Elite and haven't had any problems whatsoever. I just have a way with electronics I guess.

Same here. Although despite my ability to act like an EMP device i can still maintain things at a workable level.

Prime examples my old 360, my current computer and my rock band kick pedal. :batman:

I wouldnt mind a 360, but the controller is a little bigger than my hands. I prefer the grips of a PS3, they fit my hands xD

When lag has become noticeable I've made a new save and re-started the game.

If the problem goes away then the game was beginning to glitch, if the problem doesn't go away then there is something about that area causing a problem. I can't remember a single time the re-start hasn't cured the problem.

I hate.. The old xbox controllers..

Those things were TOO big.

I had to buy ones that were a 3rd party controller, JUST to fit my hands.. :sadvaultboy:

I have no personal perference really. Just don't want to spend so many pounds on something I don't particually need. I have a 360, therfore if were to win a PS3 that would be nice.

A new PC on the other hand would be just swell.

Huh? You must got some pretty small hands, the 360 controller is not big at all for me.

I notice a lot of lag when I'm in Freeside, specifically near the gate where the Mick&Ralph's kid hangs out. I just think there's a lot going on, environmentally, and the game slows down because of it. You have a bunch of trash can fires with smoke, you have the Crier, you have the kids chasing the rat (?), etc.

Same goes for Forlorn Hope and Bitter Springs. I haven't experienced real lag at the other spots you mentioned though.

I didn't buy the Xbox 360 right away so I never had to contend with the massive controller problem. In fact, I waited two years before I bought a 360.

Nothing so much on locations mentioned above but for me the Red Rock Canyon area is almost unplayable. Nothing seems to help with this either. Only when i start to head back towards New Vegas it allways stops on same spot near the Great Khans armory building. After that it′s smooth again.

Granted, lots of npc′s wondering around there and so. Hope they fix whatever is causingh this on the patch...

It freaks people that i can wrap my thumb and middle finger easily around my bicep.

I am a weak individual.
