What would cause extra quest markers?

Post » Thu Jun 21, 2012 8:35 pm

My testers are reporting that they get multiple quest markers during several quests in my mod. Here is what I mean: http://i1118.photobucket.com/albums/k609/AlexanderJVelicky/2012060800053.jpg

That should be one single marker pointing to an NPC, however they report many. I have tested repeatedly and I never get more than one.

What would cause them to get multiple markers? I have checked the Quest Objectives tab of the quest, and the alias that it points to (The NPC) thoroughly. I cannot see what in oblivion could possibly be causing this...

Does anyone have any insight?

Thanks,
AJV

I blame the Gremlins, personally.

When are you calling 'setobjectivedisplayed' ? Is it during a stage? if so, is the quest marked 'allow repeating stages'?
Or are you calling 'setobjectivedisplayed' from some other script? Could it be called more than once?

I always call it one single time, generally from a dialogue end script fragment. Sometimes from a trigger. The thing is, if the issue were with an objective call, or stage repetition, shouldn't it occur predictably and consistantly? My testers sometimes get it, and I never have. I almost wonder if it's some kind of a mod incompatability... I just can't think of what would cause it.

sounds like it might just be a renderer bug inherit in the engine. These kinds of bugs would only be seen on certain hardware configurations, in certain circumstances. so it might not be your fault at all. Are your testers still able to complete the objective/quest? If so then I wouldn't worry about it if it's just a graphical glitch

But they only get it with my mod. Yes they can still complete things.

And it also only appears on the world map. When they are up close (In person) the 3d markers and compass markers are not duplicated. Only on the world map...
