Namely:
-The cost of selecting a perk(1 perk per level up)
-Risk of being overpowered/underpowered compared to other perk trees
- Potential lack of interesting/unique perks
My solution to this problem? Easy. It's already got an example to follow on.
For those who played the game Fallout: New Vegas, there were very subtle perks that you earned as you progressed through the game, for example the "Set Lasers for Fun" perk, which let players earn a percentage increase in critical hit chance after reaching a set amount of damage with energy weapons. And the Increases were incremental, small increases, that required time to obtain.
I propose something similar be introduced for the new vampire lord. The perks would provide a subtle, yet steady increase in power, and let players feel progression in their vampire form, without being forced to spend precious perk points in a form they may wish to cure later. In the time i've had to consider it, things like "kill x amount of humanoid enemies in melee combat for x% increase in melee damage" and similar things for players who favor magic or stealth.
So what do you guys think? Would you like a perk system like this for vampirism? Or would you prefer a more traditional perk tree? Or perhaps, none at all?
