What do you bring for dragon hunting?

Post » Thu Jun 14, 2012 9:18 am

Ooohh! What enchantments do you have on them? :sorcerer:

technically one is the blade of woe(legendary) the other does 50/50 points of fire and stamina damage. My first attempt didn't work out so well, it had high level fear on it so I'd hit someone then spend the next 5 minutes chasing them around lmao

Sam
Nord
Male
Warrior
Level 53

Ebony Armor (legendary)
Ebony Shield (legendary)
Ebony Gauntlets (legendary)
Ebony Boots (legendary)

Dwarven Sword (legendary)

Well over 100 health potions (don't actually use any of them, except maybe one ultimate health potion if I'm fighting an Elder dragon and I forget to block)

That's it really. I've just learned Dragonrend so I'll probably use that now, since before some pesky dragons just refused to land forcing me to use shock spells to attack them (I'm not very proficient in the schools of magic).

Avaril Athera - Level 42 Battle Mage

Dwarven Boots (Fine)
Dwarven Gauntlets (Fine)
Dwarven Armor (Fine)

Ebony Sword (Fine)

Two Storm Atronachs or for Frost Dragons, Fire Atronachs. When the dragon takes enough damage to land, I switch to Demora Lords. When I get Dragonrend, I'll probably only use Demora Lords.

My current character is decked out in steel plate armor and gold emerald circlet, enchanted to the nines to reduce destruction spell cost to 0% and boost her unarmed damage. All she brings to the fight other than that is her fists, and master level Lightening Storm spell.

I don't go dragon hunting to be honest. Sure, I'll go to world walls and the like, but I don't go out actively hunting dragons. I'll just try and carry my normal kit(which is one set of armour, my waraxe, my shield, a selection of potions, and so many arrows that I could probably match the finale of 300). I always leave plenty of room for dragon bones and scales in my inventory.

I do wish there was more of a dragon-hunting element to the game. Sure, you end up fighting lots of dragons, but there isn't really the feeling of finding where they live and stalking them back to their lairs.

The closest thing is the dragon bounties, but those are random, so if you want to make a dedicated dragon hunter you have to wade through a bunch of bandit bounties first.

That said, I made a character who tried to be a dedicated dragon hunter. He was a Breton (chosen for the magic resist) who specialised in light armor, sneak, two-handed, and archery. He may also have done a bit of alchemy and possibly some enchanting. It was easier since I as the player know where a lot of the lairs are.

His basic routine was to open up with archery (stealth if possible), get off some poisoned arrows, then finish with a battleaxe. It worked out ok, but I quit playing him after level 14 or so.
