What Do You Do During The Load Screen?

Post » Sun Mar 06, 2011 4:34 pm

There doesn't appear to be a wait patiently like an advlt option. So I chose fap... not that I have any idea what that means.

Yea after an hour or two of play you won't be saying the same thing :P

I just had to reply to this. My 'end game' loading time is under 10 seconds. Yes, I'm a PC user.

I've been watching youtube walkthroughs of players on consoles, and it makes me glad I'm not playing on a console. (I do own a 360, but I've not used the PoS for over 6 months, I think the last game I played on it was Mass Effect 2)

Anyway, console players, you have my sympathies, I'm not gonna say 'go buy a PC', this is why we have market choice. But please, realise, if you don't have a proper 'upgradable' gaming rig, you're going to get slow loads, sticky freezing, and hiccups. As tech advances, consoles stay still. PC's advance with the times.

I look at the ball spinning in the roulette wheel or read the tip. I've never had a load screen reach 30 seconds. *shrug*

A lot of posts have been edited or gone away and the poll adjusted for inappropriate comments.

Since I play on PC, I don't have time to do any of those. Even with my plethora of mods.

This. I hardly have time to take a couple of sips from the drink I already have out on my desk before the next area is loaded, let alone go all the way to the kitchen for another one.

Load screens on my PC take around 5-10 seconds so I can just about crack a beer or spark cig - and that's about it...

Woop!

Got a decent PC, sometimes I have enough time to blink and other times I have to blink during actual gameplay.

If the load is longer then 5 seconds I usually refill my tea or go to the bathroom, worst part is when you walk away and the cell loads, then I have to turn around, pull up the pip boy then go the bathroom and pee.

I'm playing on 360, and at 72 hours in. My load times don't take 30 mins to an hour. I think mine like min or 2 load time for me.

Though I had to RMA mine, twice, SSDs rule!

Like others have mentioned, PC version leaves no time to do anything. I can't even spark a smoke, seeing I have to hand roll it first.

Are you talking about the load screen where the little roulette wheel spins? On my laptop this screen only lasts 2-3 seconds at most. (after 110 hrs on first playthrough)

Perhaps this is due to dual SSDs in Raid0? (Envy 15 i7-820qm, AMD Mobility Radeon 5830, 16GB RAM, Intel X18-M G2 160GB SSD x 2)

If you are talking about the very first load, before starting the game, on the very first screen when the game is loading from steam, if you press Esc, it immediately changes to the red screen with the guy with the gas mask and revolver, and there is a very brief message about downloadable content that lasts less than one second, then you can continue from saved game, and you get the screen with the roulette wheel that lasts about 2 seconds or so.

Either get a drink, roll/smoke a ciggy, or read a bit of my book - I keep one by my chair for any long loading screens (which are rare and down to me playing for too long) or ad breaks if I'm watching T.V.

I watch the spinning roulette wheel and breathe a sigh of relief when it stops spinning and the game comes back.

My load times range from 2 seconds to 10 seconds at worst at 65 hours in. I'm on the PC, so I imagine that having a decently fast computer with a good amount of ram has something to do with it.
