what do you guys think is an acceptable time to for a soluti

After some considerationI have decided to try and give this topic a try in the hopes that we can have a real discussion about this .Yes people are pissed (and have every right to be) I agree we shouldent have to wait for the dev team to get thier act together and solve this but honestly this the situation where we find ourselves .So the question I put to you and please stay on topic (which means no flameing or trolling) is how long do people and perhaps even the staff at bethesda/ obsidian think is a reasonable amount of time to wait for solution be it a patch ,refund ,recall or what have you (not that the last two are likely to happen) I would also like an real NO BS explaination of how this came to pass but I wont be holding my breath on that one . So without further fuss ,discuss amongst yourselves

Before the release of that holiday add-on or sooner. If you think about it, once they release the patch, people's moods are going shift from mad to happy because they can feel safe about playing. And then, that's when they'll release their DLC. Quite devious, but it'll work. And to the people who say they're not going to buy the DLC; don't kid yourself. You will.

Here is an article about the DLC this holiday.

http://www.joystiq.com/2010/10/18/first-fallout-new-vegas-dlc-exclusive-to-xbox-360/

As far as your original post goes, I would think three weeks would reach the unacceptable limit. That gives the devs a week to fix it and 2 weeks for certification from PS3 and xbox to actually release the patch. I think a week to fix the issues is plenty of time since the devs have been working on the game for a long time it should be fairly easy to find the bugs that have been posted on the forums adnasuem and fix the code. Two weeks or less seems pretty standard for certification. Although, I have read that there was a 2nd patch for pc users very soon after release. I am unsure what it did exactly, but several people have commented on a 2nd patch. The post below by the devs mentions a patch on Oct 26 stating it is live for all 3 platforms, but goes on to mention certification too.

Well if its not patched before my xbox comes back then something is wrong and lots of people aren't going to be happy. I just sent out my xbox and it was said 3 to 4 weeks once they get it.

I'm hopping that it will be patched before I get it back, so I can install it and get the patches done and play

As long as it takes to get right and i mean before release, not on a whim after when the profits coming in and the incentive to do a good job is low.

Zero.

The game should never have been released with this bug.

It's a show stopper.

Count me out, no really if a patch does sort out the game breakers in the core game, you can bet your life the DLC will introduce more bugs to the the core along with the bugs in the DLC so back to square 1 again.

Personally i will wait for a deal of the week or what not and only then when the games reported as .....ok-ish (as we all should know it will never be up to a standard we all expect) so people who want the DLC dont kid yourself, you will be back here in this forum waiting for that never acknowledged question to be answered when can i play this game i have paid for.

Please dont get me wrong i have nothing but love for the Fallout and Elder Scrolls Franchises, they are a masterpiece in the art of storytelling and creating the worlds in which to tell them, they unfortunately are also the most technically flawed titles too.

I hope i am wrong and the DLC comes and passes the quality test in the eyes of us the gamers / customers, but i have always had high hopes but low expectations with Bethesda titles, that way im less likely to be left disappointed.

I loved the old fallouts. To me, before I started running into these bugs, this was fallout 3. It really felt like some of the old ones. And I seriously loved it. But I'm just getting so worn down by all of these bugs. And the company stays silent as to what they're doing. I'd appreciate a lot of little patches, the likes of which we see from the modding community on PC than one big patch a month from now that will still miss a lot of problems and cause me to worry if they'll ever get fixed.

I can not believe this crap. I spent $60 on a game and I can not play the game at all, I got one hour into the game and it kept crashing. I erased all the patches and DLC tried to play off line and just deal with the previous glitches, but all I got was a frozen screen as my character woke up.

They had better release a patch to fix this soon, I know how game creation works and I am not looking for them to release a miracle patch in record time. I just want to know a rough estimate and time frame for a patch, I want to know that this will be taken car of before Christmas so I can actually play this game. I know I probably will not buy any DLC unless this stuff gets addressed in a timely manner. I bought all five DLC's for FO3 and I tend to buy DLC for all my games but this is the first one I am actually leary about spending anything on.

To be honest the bugs people are having, the DLC one in particular, sound like they would be a cast iron [censored] to track down. It's not as easy as 'the preorder DLC triggers it' because not everyone who has the preorder stuff has the bug, and some people have it who don't have the preorder. It's not as easy as 'this quest triggers it' because some people do the quest and things are fine. I can understand where losing save games would be super frustrating, but I can also understand it taking a while to get a fix out.

Take as long as it takes to get the problem solved, in my opinion.

At a guess it's related to the faction socring. I'm slightly OCD, and I couldn't leave this alone. Tried numerous different things when doing the "Come Fly With Me" quest, and every time my game got corrupted right after you head out of the basemant into the main building part of the Test Site building.

I went away, increased my faction score with the Great Khans, went back and did the "Come Fly With Me" quest, and voila. No more corruptions.

I now save in a new slot and reload after every save, but it hasn't cropped up yet.

Bethesda/Obsidian, there's a clue for you. Invoice is in the mail....

They can take as long as needed to fix this. I have patience and so should you all. Now the problem with the situation is that we are all a left waiting here without any information except "We know about it and its being worked on". Its 2010, a twitter with updates of progress would be a great start. A more detailed explanation of what exactly happened would let us know they are actually working on it. Im sure replicating the error and running debug on a devkit will show exactly what the save is looking to load. How about informing us if our "corrupt" save state will be playable after they patch it? Even tho there is a period where the Title Update needs to be passed through a verification process you can let us know the status of it. What I am so angry about is the LACK of communication to its users from a multiple GOTY developer. All those bugs from previously released games should have taught the a lesson.

Hopefully they are working on it now. It's unacceptable. I don't even think they had beta testers. The game should have never been released with this many bugs.

I would say if there is no patch or news of a patch within a week the devs fail. black ops is out tuesday so the way things are looking right now might as well put NV on the shelf for awhile

I think a safe assumption for DLC content is that much of the "world" has been developed during the creation of NV and in it's initial release it will not be a huge detour from the original (operation anchorage) after release opposed to more extreme settings changes as Point Lookout and Mothership Zeta.
My bet is the DLC will be a safe contextual add on to the threads of unanswered questions in NV until later DLC 's stretch out beyond whats already created for the NV release. I also mean this in that I am sure that lumps of the DLC content is already hold back from NV.
So I don't think it will be an array of new problems with the first DLC release as much as an opportunity to bundle fixes in with the DlC that Bethesda would otherwise have to pay additionally to Microsoft for multiple fix patches. I might assume that Dev on DlC has been sped up to incorporate fixes into that content.

If any part of that made sense I would debate it. That was nonsense.

I agree...a simple update, even if it implies things will take longer would be better than nothing...

Just frustrating to not be able to play the game with no idea when it'll be patched.

Add in that I have this week off of work and was hoping to get hours of Fallout in...nope, that didn't happen.

Bethesda, please learn that communication (even if it's not exactly what we want to hear) tends to make customers more happy. If I'm waiting an hour at a store I'm less likely to mind if the employees keep me updated as to why things are taking too long, you know?

I think it depends on how "acceptable" the update/patch will be.

If it fixes everything, I'm willing to wait 1 - 3 months. However, and no offence to Bethesda/Obsidian, I'm betting it won't fix everything and we will still have "some" of the issues. The major ones will be fixed, but the smaller ones may go unnoticed or ignored, and that is what brings my p*** to a boil.

I love Fallout and games like it for the immersion factor, and those little (and usually ignored) glitches, that don't directly affect gameplay, break that immersion.

So in conclusion, 3 months is fine if we're waiting for perfection, but for a purely "get the game working properly" patch, I'd give them half the time (ie 6 weeks since release).

This reminds me, I need to report more "issues" I've had.
