What do you think about race based carrying capacity?

I'm not one of the people who think it was a crime to take out stats, I'm not really fussed. But I do think it's slightly silly that fatigue controls carrying capacity. If I'm a bosmer and I put as many points into fatigue I could carry the same weight as an orc or a nord (although technically I know I could do the same with strength if the game had stats), and that doesn't seem right.

So I had the idea of carry capacity being dictated by your race. Orcs can carry the most, bosmer and khajiit the least. And it goes up a set amount when you level. The only thing is what would be a balance for being a bosmer or kahjiit?

What do you think? Good idea? Bad? Not fussed?

The other thing is do you think jumping should drain fatigue? I think it should.

Honestly don't think this is a good idea. Basically forcing people into having to play an Orc (I'm assuming thats what would happen) would ruin the game. Carrying Capacity is a big deal, what is there to say that Orcs are the strongest race? If you implemented this idea, then what about females, wouldn't you have to nerf their CC even further? The CC is fine as it is, & if it bothers you, then you could just make up an entertaining back story as to why you can carry so much or even place a limit on what YOU think you should be able to carry, something akin to a DiD playthrough.

Eh jumping draining fatigue? That doesn't sound too bad, but would again limit the gameplay & take it from a casual game to something extreme & IMO once again, Not very fun.

These would be excellent ideas for something like a FO:NV hardcoe mode. It'd make the game alot more interesting having to worry about CC & Fatigue more openly.

I think it should start based on your race, but then you can change it after the fact by investing in an attribute like Fatigue or Strength. Hell, that's how Oblivion worked. Each race (and gender) had it's own Strength stat at the beginning of the game, changing how much you could carry. Then by investing points into Strength you could become just as strong as anyone else.

Whether you liked the old attributes or not, having a player think about what the effects will be of picking a specific race is a good idea, an even better one if you can become just as good as another race with proper character management.

yes I would like this , as I've said many times before. It wouldn't force you to be an orc at all. I'm playing a normal strength breton fighter in Morrowind atm. You just adapt to the playstyle.

BTW orcs arent strongest actually , nords are overall strongest where males are tied with redguards and nord females are slightly stronger. Orcs ride on willpower and endurance :) so I guess they are more badass.
