What's your favorite CityHold and why?

Post » Fri Jun 01, 2012 2:27 am

Mine's Falkreath, The whole dark atmosphere and the forest around it, the creepy woodland huts, the proximity of the dark brotherhood and the huge graveyard make for a gloomy awesome play area.
For holds it'd be The Rift, some of the best hunting grounds in the game and the waterfalls, geysers, birch forests and jagged peaks are just beautiful. No love for Riften itself though, dirty, dull place.

Riverwood. I like to chop wood and have that man tell me "Honest gold, for honest work". It makes me feel wanted.

I like Markarth. The architecture of that city is insanely awesome. I really like Whiterun too, because I spent most of my time there so far. And I agree, Riften is a dirty place. I doubt I will even buy a home there.

I like whiterun. It reminds me of the good old days without all the tech and friendly people.
I also like windhelm. Cause I'm a racist. Lmfao.

I love the architecture of Markarth but i hate all the stairs and different levels. Whiterun is laid out pretty well for selling gear, but Breezehome is a bit lame.

I think The Reach is beautiful, but so hard to navigate! the amount of mountain jumping I've done there is preposterous. whiterun+the pale are fun but a little bland :s

The more I see of other townships, the more I like Whiterun. The climate is nice (It's always sunny in Whiterun), the houses aren't all crammed together (I'm looking at you, Solitude) and the citizens are friendly enough (Windhelmers are downright rude). Whiterun's a cheery place to call home after a long day of adventuring. I do wish the Breezehome home was a touch bigger, all on one floor and had a few more bookcases but one can't have everything, right? Right now, I just wish the bookcases I have worked properly... :(.

Markarth. Built into a mountain, on top of a dwarven ruin, and with water running through it. Plus it has two black smiths and a kick ass house.

I'm partial to Solitude; the location, geography and architecture of the city are very much what I like. The lore behind the city's another draw; Pelagius the Mad, the Wolf Queen and so on.

As for holds, I quite like the Rift. I love temperate forests, and the Rift is the postcard version of such an environ. It's also not quite as hostile as other holds, so I can feel I can wander without being attacked constantly. Winterhold is second place due to how remarkably bleak it is.

Markarth looks brilliant but seems too hard to navigate. Idk maybe I need to spend more time there, The Reach is beautiful but very "Cramped", if you know what I mean.

My favorite is Whiterun. Breezhome might not be the best house but I plan on settling there once I get married. There's something about leaving on adventure then looking back at your home from some distant mountain. Or coming back home just to see Whiterun being attacked by a Dragon from miles away then making haste to save the town folk. There's the scene for a movie right there.

Whiterun, though I kinda sorta wished my house were more.. luxurious.

Clan Battle-Born's house is just PERFECT.. I covet it..

Markarth. Probably one of the most unique looking towns I've seen in a video game. Also, it has one of the better houses in the game (even more so for me since I got that glitch that doesn't let me buy the Windhelm house. :brokencomputer:)

I wonder if they would add DLC that would allow me to buy it from them. Give me a reason to save up gold, buy it from them for 1,000,000 septims. :disguise:

I think Markarth. The ruins are awesome, and it reminds me a bit of Helm's Deep.

The one I make for myself when the CK is out.

Till then I love the layout and style of Whiterun, it just feels comfortable.

Whiterun, its simple not too big plus it seems right in the center of everything to me.

I do like falkreath and riverwood I am a little upset that you can't own property in either

City-wise Solitude, like the architecture and geography, though i wish it had a more thriving market place.
Favourite hold is Falkreath hold, love the pine forest though i can only explore half of it since my game crashes if i get too close to the area around and between the sanctuary and Falkreath city.

Riften/The Rift, though Markarth/the Reach is a close second.

EDIT: i forgot to say why. Mostly the atmosphere and architecture. But I must confess, I haven't been to Dawnstar yet and have spent very little time in Winterhold.

This.

Markarth is [censored] beautiful, but Riften is home to my favorite guild.

Whiterun Easy

The city has the best lay out, its basically a giant L with everything you want on 1 single road

No winding road, no 7 levels of stairs

Your house is perfectly located right near the fast travel point

7 different merchants to start the game.
