I haven't seen any comments like those ones you made up, but I have seen some like the one where you mention your wife in a normal fashion.
It's because people tend to talk about their lives - particularly in threads along the lines of "What will you do when you get the game?" etc, because their significant other will likely be a part of that.
I see people mention their kids and pets a lot too, I don't assume it's because they're bragging about their ability to keep small things alive successfully.

Because they want you to think they're "kewl" by claiming they have a female partner.

Same reason why I keep seeing people feel the need to trash their significant other on the internet (both husband and wives). I'm not sure who the bigger buffoon is, their significant other that they keep trashing, or them for having the poor judgement to be committed to the wrong people.
