Whats your idea of a great and magnificient stronghold?

Honestly, I would just like a small little fortress build up inside a mountain with black iron decorating my walls like the black gate in lotr. Also if you are at odds with some rival organization you would have to deal with siege battles every once in a while. Also there would be the possibility of a large town outside the entrance to my fort and people greet me with showering confetti from the sky, throwing mountain flowers at my feet and worshipping the ground I walk on as I approach my fort which is filled with full-bred vampires who present me with slaves in chains and make them work 24/7. On the inside it would be a gory, gothic-feel with waves of heat as my slaves are whipped to make ready weapons of war and prepare to march on skyrim and defeat Ulfric Stormcloak. My bedroom would have lovely red and blue tapestries hanging from the walls bearing my personal symbol and a pretty bed up against the wall across from the door with a chest infront of it. Maybe have a nice piano (because I LOVE pianos) and as my character plays it the terrible music would echoe throughout the halls of my fort and slaves would know that there is no escaping their pathetic fate.

I wouild rule my territory with an iron fist muahahahah.. >:)

My Answer: Solitude.
An absolutely beautiful city, with an exceptional location.
Sitting silently, but proudly on top of an amazing looking geographical landscape with soft clouds billowing in the winds.

The first time i saw Solitude, my jaws just dropped. It looks like the quintessential regal fantasy city in so many fantasy novels.
Only in my dreams did i dream of such a beautiful looking city realized in a computer game.

Somewhere that looks impressive, but also that has a bit of an interesting layout - not Telvanni interesting, but more just a bit more imaginative than Battlehorn.

I agree with Phyber that Solitude does that well (Windhelm as well, I think). A small stronghold up on some cliffs, in a defendable position with space for a small settlement and some visually impressive towers... that will do me.

An argonian fortress, first large walls with a town in it, at the centre of the town a vey large dome with a spire at the top in the spire theres a small hatch, when you go through theres a very large room filled with water. Find the door and go through into the palace, there would be me, my gaurds, my warmaster derkeethus and my queen. Weed regulerly go out to hunt nords and bring back as slaves! :devil;

where: windhelm marshes
population: all argonians

a cave where i hole up with my vampire army, there would be traps with rolling rocks and places for archers and mages to shoot from to hold them at the entrance.

I would love something akin too Trondheim (Eragon) or Erabor (Lotr). Basicly, a base inside the mountain, impossible to take.

Minas Tirith was pretty sick looking plus it had 7 levels which had gates at each so an invader had to preach 7 strongholds then the Keep at the top.

Coloured glass domes, and hues of marble, chased with Obsidian and ancient-brass, towers that are privy to the winds' secrets, the whole glittering with sun-fire, or dancing to the music of that which falls through the stars.
