Whats your play style?

Hello everyone.

Well heres my play style:

ussually i sorta come up with my characters personality and my basic Roleplay whilst starting the game. Whether it be watchin the cutscene in morrowind and oblivion or siting in the carrage in Skyrim.

After creating my character and finishing the tutorial level/dungeon. Ill sorta just ditch the main quest and head off into the wilderness. Ill raid dungeons, Kill bandits or simply go out and practice my magic by a calm stream. Then once im a little more familiar. Ill head off to a settlement and prehapes sell what little loot i have. maybe complete some quests and get to know the people. ussually i just go and do this routine untill i get a little bored. Then ill go off and start a guild quest or the main quest, depending on what roleplay im doing. Obvioulsy im gona be stuck into quests for a while. But to drag it out ill ussually just drag them out by doing side quests ir a few dungeon raids in between.

just some stuff i always or never do:
-Never fast travel unless in a hurry IRL.
-Always try to read books when i got some free time
- Always put my kills in dignified positions if not already
-Never reload saves if i do something stupid. I like to play it out and see the results.
-Thats about all i can think about.

thanks for your time

I normally make a backstory, assign morals and motivations to my character then after I finish the tutorial dungeon I usually head to the nearest city. What I do next is entirely dependant on what type of character I have, but I will most likely spend some time practicing skills(not grinding, simply using them for stuff) by doing things like raiding a few dungeons before I start to take quests.

As for things like no FT I am on and off. If I feel like walking all over the land(which is decently often) I will, but if I simply feel like turning in the quest I will.
Sometimes I save and try some wired stuff(like throwing all I carry on the ground in a city), but I don't consider this a part of my character so I reload. I rarely do this though.
I often erad books in game, especially with topics like "The Oblivion Crisis", "The Great War" etc.

honestly, while I, in theory, would love to do this stuff you guys are talking about, I just can't seem to do it IRL. I avoid cast travel magic map style, but thats bout it

Did my backstory and perks plan when they announced the skills and the perks started filtering through, never fast travel even up the Throat, eat, drink, sleep, always help anyone who asks, missed a bunch of Artefacts because my character isn't the Daedra's lackey, always visit the chapels, always give to beggars, no murders, didn't get enchanting to 100 until after level 50, never use conjuration, no reloads even to save Vigilance and the stray dog, if I feel the need to grind a magic school I do it in the College, wouldn't eat a giant's toe even though alchemy is my second most important skill after restoration, only took the first base one handed damage up being a skinny Altmer and all but have 100 skill and paralyse and decapitate (skill not strength).

When I start a character all I know is their race, skills and sometimes why they were on the cart to be executed. I learn more about who they are as a character the more I play them - for example, my Mage is good-hearted but in recent times he's become a bit impulsive.

After leaving Helgen, it depends on my character. My thief ran as far away as possible from Riverwood, afraid of being arrested again, whereas my Mage followed Hadvar.

As for restrictions - I sleep if I happen to be in a city or an inn, or just stand by the side of the road and wait until morning, as if my character is camping. Characters tend to eat breakfast and dinner, and sometimes a few snacks throughout the day - usually apples or sweetrolls. In terms of fast travel ... I often do fast travel, although if I only need to travel a short distance or I'm not focused on a particular quest I'll walk. I tend to walk through the Rift a lot, because of the amazing scenery, and also through Whiterun hold.

I only ever connect with one character and she's the same character I have connected with in Morrowind, and Oblivion, Mass Effect and Dragon Age - a sort "Eternal Champion" if you will - (with apologies to Michael Moorcock and Elric) - she is very definitely an anti-hero, a loose cannon, and no lover at all of Authority.
With each incarnation she becomes progressively more fey and quixotic and is pretty much now at her most extreme, although I don't know where she will go next and I don't think she does either.
She has, by now, a fairly extensive backstory that currently extends backwards to Morrowind - in this incarnation at least.

I pretty much let her do what she wants and just provide a "nudge" from time to time, so sessions can be very unpredictable.
Fast travel makes her violently ill so she won't do it. She's also not good with horses so she'll walk or run in preference.

Currently she is absolutely not playing the game in any way shape or form. She's mad, bad, and definitely dangerous to know. In essence she went to sleep with Vilja just north of Bruma in Cyrodiil and awoke "some time later" in Skyrim, with no idea how she got back there or why - and she's pretty pissed about it to be honest.
She is not the Dragonborn - and quite frankly she couldn't give a [censored] anyway - she just wants to get back, although that may be more difficult than she thinks...

You can read some of her backstory and something of her adventures by clicking on the link in my sig, if you're interested.

I am quiet, I do not waste time. I intimidate, I bow to no one, I do have a mutual respect for the Daedra though, I am loyal to the Empire, they served me well in Cyrodiil. I was always looking for a place to sign up. I fast travel. I can go days without food but eat my heart out when I get home.

While creating a character, I also come up wih his backstory/motivations. After escaping Helgen, I go to Riverwood to sell loot, set up the quest to get the claw, and do some smithing if the character uses weapons/armor. Hit Whiterun to start up the main Quest and do what I have to do in order to get a fully powered Unrelenting Force. From there, all my characters go in different directions, based on what I have planned for them.

I tend to stay away from fast travel, and use skills I feel make sense for each character. My retitred Orc warrior, for instance, was very limited, he dual-wielded axes and wore heavy armor, so those were the skills he worked on and perked, along with smithing. Only perked that up to able improve Orc armor and pieced together a full suit of Orcish armor from found loot. Once he had that, it was time for the Civil War. Wasn't much longer after the war was over before I was done with him. He'd done what I created him for.

after making all the rp archetypes and doing questlines i now have 1 all-powerful hybrid that i use to explore the world of skyrim and lets me play any style i want to for any given gaming session.

as well, i STRICTLY rp DiD characters with a variety of self-governing rules.

i was getting very bored with skyrim and as soon as i made this change the fun returned.

it really depends on the rp. there is nothing I _always_ do, except maybe hoard.

My first character was a khajiit, which is cool cause I never made one in OB of any consequence. Scorned by Skyrim society he turned to the DB. He helps no one, save fellow Khajiit, unless there is a clear and tangible payoff in it for him. He doesn't own any property and could give a damn about helping fight off any dragons - he doesn't really believe the hocus pocus anyway.

I have a nord dovakhin who kills every imperial he finds. liberated skyrim & saved the world. he is misguided but earnest in what he believes. Deep down he detests killing and could never really general troops. He was just born with incredible prowess in combat.

My current, and favorite character since a long time, is a female bosmer. A scared young girl abandoned by skooma addict parents on the border of Skyrim she has been swept into a life of crime. She wandered out of riverwood heading east to find solace in the woods. She happened upon Riften and was lured into the thieves guild because she is good at it. (She often had to steal her meals as a child). I distribute the leveling points 0:1:9 and I spend no perks in any combat tree so she remains very fragile and completely at the mercy of her stealth.

I would add that of late I do _always_ play with the HUD nearly transparent (on PS3 so I can't turn off components of it). And the music off.

Well My name is Keryan, a ranger.
I left my beloved Anvil to come in Riverwood where my uncle told me that i will find myself.
I was camping in the forest near Riverwood when i heard screams. I packed and move toward them. After a few steps i saw a shadow at my feet, raised my head and i saw it...a dragon!!!I went the opposite direction of it and arrived in Helgen, there i met Ralof who told me many things and ask me to come with him in Riverwood. Most of you, i guess know the rest...So i packed again and went to Whiterun where i soon knew that i was " uncommon ".
Now i'm here, writing these few words to some foes from another world or time...
Here life isn't easy at all but i love it.
Farewell my friends,

Keryan of Anvil

P.s. Great time u choose for this thread...11.11. ;)

I tend to make a back story for my character, although after I have made a few they begin to sound like the same back story. I also don't use fast travel, or any way of getting up skills in what I would class as cheating.

@DwemerLord

I do the same exact things you do. Holy... :o

There is a bit of a difference though...

- Whenever I find a book, I typically flip through it for a potential level up, if not, I take it and sell it ;P

- I have a strange habit of taking the disembodied heads of my victims to my collection in my home in Windhelm.

- I scan every square inch of wall in a cave I enter for ores. They are notoriously hard to find. :P

Sword & board.
Keeping it simple! :D

Oh forgot to mention that Niamh never looks at maps unless she is in a tavern in a settlement, or in a building at the end of a quest - i.e. only when she is somewhere where she could feasibly find a map lying around.
Also she has no quest markers and only uses an approximate custom marker. I use a mod that tweaks the compass and the map so various things are missing off it.
