When Belethor dies....

This time around I decided to kill Belethor. I had heard a while back that someone will replace him in his shop?

I would presume the other guy that works there would. I killed the woman at Radiant Raiments and her sister took over, albeit with a severely reduced schedule.
You'll probably find Belethor's place locked alot of the time while the other employee chops wood outside.

Wait just a minute... you mean there's another guy? Who works for Belethor? At the general goods store? That's so odd, I spend half my time in Whiterun, you'd think I would've heard about that by now... :P

Guys, guys... Sigurd is just... special. And we should all think twice about the mean things we say about Belethor, seeing as how he found it in his heart to give the poor kid a paying job when nobody else in Skyrim would hire him.

On the other hand, Belethor really needed some help around the place, and he'd already sold all of his relatives, so...

What did Belethor do to deserve to be killed? That's what I want to know.

I think Ysolda can take over either Belethor's store or the Bannered Mare, depending on who dies first. I read that somewhere. Could be wrong, of course.

Belethor is up to no good. I've seen him coming back from three different directions, evening and morning. I think he's got women in the Cloud District and outside of town. I guess I can see the attraction, if he just wouldn't TALK.

This. ^ ...kinda'. :P

I've been told that she'll take over his inventory and money, but not really 'man' the store. I've never stayed out of Whiterun long enough for the cell to reset to see if this is true though.

And his partner, all he says is "I work for Belethor, at the general goods store."

Irony of it is that I have never seen him there.

I was told the same thing once, and I thought it would be terrific not to suffer load times in and out of a store to get at his former inventory/gold. But later I was told that this does not work. Now I don't know.

No one ever takes over the shop. Ever. I've never heard of the Ysolda thing and I've played this game for way too many hours. I killed Belethor on my first playthrough and the shop stayed empty and unmanned until I finished that character at level 50+. The only thing that ever respawned was the food. At level 3 that's cool. At level 20+ it's lame.

Don't kill him unless you want to have to travel to other cities to get rid of your miscellaneous loot.

Whiterun is so lopsided on the merchants already: 4 of them take only weapons, armor and some misc items, while only Belethor takes general goods; and he only has 750 gold. I always end up with drawers full of robes, staves and jewelry. LOL

He doesn't come back. It's no fun, so I strongly suggest not killing him. I know that's asking a lot, but it's worth it in the end.

Just go kill another innocent civilian to get your frustration out.

Farengar Secret-Fire should buy mage stuff and I think Fralia Gray-Mane should buy jewelry, but neither of them have a lot of money either.

You're joking, right? Every one of my perk points goes into something worthwhile, not improving the fortunes of merchants. That's their business.

I usually see him fixing a window on the shop... with a hammer. I think Belethor prefers him outside where he can't damage the junk, er, treasures.
