When will the price of skyrim go down?

Post » Wed Jun 13, 2012 9:45 am

I would like to get this game for a friend of mine (I showed him this game and he was impress with it) as a surprise gift, however $59.99 (On steam) is tad expensive and from previous sour purchases from amazon I don't trust the vendors. The price on newegg is $49.99... is that the best deal that I can potentially find?

Is their going to be any major sales of skyrim on mothers day?

buy from a real retailer not a blood svcking leech like steam.

amazon is fine i got mine from amazon. you could allways try or think about getting from a co.uk amazon/ebay? (assuming your after pc version) UK Skyrim new goes for about $38

oh just checked amazon.com its on there new for $37.. and use a creditcard.. not sure if you have our rules in the US? but if you get a bad purchase you can reclaim the money aka paypal.

I'm a USA residents. Do you think the vendors from the UK will sell me a copy for that amount? Oh and that vendor who's selling skyrim for 30 bucks makes me nervous since he doesn't have any feedback.

When you consider the fact that even in the NES days video games were about 50 septims new, and you think of all the development that went into Skyrim, I think the new price should be over 100 dollars. Just buy it and stop being cheap.

It's still selling well. There's no reason to reduce the price any time soon.

Steam has sales time to time. The Christmas sale price was $40, I think. Or was it $30. I can't remember. Next sale is probably in July. I vaguely remember there being a huge sale around Independence Day.

I bought it from Steam at full price. It was a good deal for me because none of the local stores had in stock by the time I decided to get it couple days after it came out.

I heard few weeks ago that Skyrim is still a top seller on steam. Tons of new people are still buying it for the first time. Does anybody have a link to their sales stat page?

Stay as far away from steam as you can... you'll get burned (pun intended). I don't see the point in paying full price for a game that you'll never tangibly own. I always want a hard copy of every game I buy.

Depends on what the store buys the stock for!

Invoice price+any sales taxes+overheads is the formula...and currently most places are still being charged the same price for stock.

Steam wont discount either as they dont want to make the stock poisonous.

That happened to Samsung TV's here in australia...online prices undercut physical stores...stores count sell the stock...so they didnt buy more...they swithced to Panasonics...now Samsung is having trouble getting the new TV's into showrooms cause noone will touch them!

No game outlet will buy more copies of Skyrim if Steam undercuts them and the distrubutor NEEDS to sell more stock to stores!

Undertstand its business...its not solely about helping YOU!

Stores like Gamestop, Game etc. Are way worse than Steam when it comes to "leeching money" away from the devs... I expect thats what you mean by "Real retailers" anyway

If you buy a copy of Skyrim from say, Gamestop, what you really pay for is a steam code... You still don't actually own the game.

Mother's Day?

I don't see the "Get Skyrim for mom" as a winning angle for Mother's Day.

Memorial Day is coming up and that would be the nearest big sale for Brick & Mortar stores to have it on sale.

After that, it's the 4th of July and Steam has it's Summer Sale around that. If you remember Steam's Holiday Sale ...it's like that.

For the most part, I only buy games at two times during the year.

Only possible advantage I can think of is that you will be able to play the game a bit sooner buying from steam, depending on your network speed.

(On steam)

when its not in the top 10 most played games. Which is actually insane considering that its a SINGLE PLAYER game, and its been out for 6 months.

Jeez, the game has been out for about 7 months and has sold millions and still selling pretty good, only the most idiotic or the very desperate business will sell Skyrim for a low price.
