When you've finished everything - what do you do?

Post » Wed Jun 13, 2012 9:46 am

Level 63, dunmer thief/assassin.
Everything in thief is 100 except pickpocket.
Just about everything in warrior is 100, except for twohanded and heavy armor (i care for neither.)
In Magic, only Destruction is 100. Working on Conjuration and Alteration now.
Smithing and Enchanting all 100.
There's no point in going back into lots of caves and ruins, as I've cleared them all out - even multiple times.
I've even cleaned out the Black Reach, including mining.
I suppose I can wander the countryside, looking for more ore deposits (found tons of them already), get into random encounters and focus on magic skills to develop......
Also been taking the continuing College of Winterhold, dark brohood and thieves quests.......
But I'm really just biding my time.

What else can I do to basically burn the time between now and the upcoming major DLC?

Start a new character. I can't play most characters past level 30, it just gets too boring

Move to another game for me.

With gamesas games, doing a completionist run tends to last about a month for me. That's also the same time it takes for me to get bored with a game. I generally restart the game at a later date with a new game.

That's my second character.

Why start another one?
None of the ruins/caves will be new - I've seen them.
Nor will any of the quests be new - done all of them (except the final mage ones for the ritual spells, workign on those.)

Been at this for 440 hours. Can now go thru dragons like a cuisinart.
How do any of you with more hours keep yourselves entertained?

I'll admit, I can't answer this. I'm at about 450 hours myself and I can't think of anything else to do. If I were you I'd just play some other games to pass the time for DLC, that's what I'm doing.

Me, I make up my own quests and do my own stories. I roleplay. I have a vivid imagination and the stories and quests I make up for my characters are usually more interesting than the stories developers write anyway.

I was wondering the same thing... just finished the main quest at level 45. Also completed Thieves Guild, Dark Brotherhood, Companions, College of Winterhold, and the Civil War. Unfortunately I raised Smithing and Alchemy, so my character was almost unstoppable even after I ditched my Dragonbone and Daedric Armor for a set of Ebony Armor obtained from a Daedric loard quest.

I stopped playing, as I can't think of anything else I can do that's fun. Gonna play a few games I missed, like the Witcher 1/2, until the DLC is released.

I was kind of surprised that there was no "ending" cinematic for Skyrim after completing the main quest. Oblivion had a small one...did I miss something in Skyrim?

Morrowind had a far greater replay value, one because all the questlines were far longer and more interesting, and two because you couldn't (unlike skyrim) become master of everything in one playthrough.

I'd happily keeo starting new games and RPing in skyrim, because I like doing that and the world is a great one to RP in, except that there is a really lame and annoying 30 minute tutorial I can't skip. The beginning of the game was great the first few times, now its frustrating as hell when I want to start a new dude and have to go through all that [censored] again. I haven;t played skyrim in awhile. been playing the witcher 2 instead.

440? I think you've run your coarse. Move to another game and come back in a year when you've forgotten most of the specifics and play again.

If you're on PC, wait for the quest/land mods to arrive and play those.

Play a different game until DLC or something. I recently got the witcher 2 and it's pretty good to pass the time

As others have said, roleplay is the key. Quests can only take you so far - to continue with a character, you have to look beyond that. My character has recently completed the College of Winterhold questline, and he's previously done the Legion quests. He often visits the cities that were once held by the Stormcloaks, and sees how the Jarls are settling in to their new roles. He also visits the Court Wizards, to check on there research and the like. As Arch-Mage, he has a responsibility to keep the mages of Skyrim under control. Harvesting alchemy ingredients also takes up much of his time, and he always makes sure he comes home every so often to spend some quality time with his wife.

How do any of you with more hours keep yourselves entertained?

For my part what keeps me entertained after 400+ are mods, I played the for about 250 hours before I started to install mods that alters gameplay. I did use mods that improved graphic before that but none which had a real effect on gameplay. My current character is playing with a pretty much revamped skyrim in regards of perks and choices of perks, harder difficulty etc. Still same quests etc but with some nice quest mods coming I guess it will be time to install them and test them out also.

My character is roleplayed a bit which keeps things interesting and that helps on how long I can play a character.

Start a new character. When you get sick of doing that, come to this forum and complain about seeing no DLC announcement.

I start a new character. Or I collect every basket in the world. OR Make a small cave out of wine bottles. Or try to kill things with telekinesis.
I could go on, but basically I get creative.

I'm doing the last two quest chains - Mages and Bards College - then I'll be done. Almost 600 hours with 5 characters, so that averages out to about 100 hours per month since release. Can't complain about that.

So now, I play a little Skyrim and a D2/LOD mod - hoping it will last till 15 May when D3 is released.

If you like something different, play a permanent level one character. When you level up, you cannot assign points in health, stamina, or magicka.

That also prevents you from assigning skill points and perks, which also prevents you from mining, enchanting, and other skills. You'll still level up skills while playing, but they won't be anywhere as good as they are with the skills/perks. For example, my sneak is at 100, but the distance at which NPCs can see me is greatly increased.

And you must live off the land - gear comes from drops (when you kill enemies) or loot from dungeons, etc.

Idem.

I'm not completely done yet with this character or even the game (heck, I've still got two new characters in mind to create and play with), but I'm thinking about "honouring Kyne" by making a pilgrimage tour via the places people mentioned in the Most beautiful Place in Skyrim thread. I'm also thinking about living like a true werewolf for a set amount of time (three days and nights or so). After that, I'll see what else I can do.

Ah, and of course there's still the mods. I only got to install a few sounds and texture mods, the real deal (i;e. mods which add quests and change Skyrim playstyle) still has to begin.
/edit: And how could I forget: there's also DiD ...
