When you're walking through the wilderness....

Post » Wed Jun 13, 2012 10:53 pm

You're walking almost all the way across the map. You don't really plan on stopping anywhere, you're just taking the shortest distance between here and there... You don't know what's coming or what you'll run into. What two options do you equip in your hands?

If I'm feeling lucky: Firebolt in both

If I'm feeing unlucky: Sanguines' Rose and Flame Atronach

Dagger with my nord huntress/assassin. They pounce on you too quick to pull out the bow and arrow.

None until i have to...

And then it depends on the situation.
Primary: Bow for long range, sword for short range.
Secondary: Shield for tough enemies, otherwise i usually have some fun with magick ...

I'll keep my bow close at hand, and then fall back onto my melee weapons if things don't go according to plan.

I have multiple save files for different playstyles, so it differs.

My favorite playstyle is a nord. I use light armor and dual-wield war axes. I prefer to dodge (hence why I use light armor) so my inability to block is not a problem for me.

Then, I have a Bosmer who primarily uses stealth. I have a bow equipped, but I switch to a pair of daggers if the enemy ends up getting close. Again, I use light armor and dodge instead of block.

I ALWAYS have a sword and a spell, with a dragon shout just in case. If I'm roaming around, it's a sword and usually a healing spell, but if I want to add some extra punch, I'll use a fire or lightning spell.

Detect Life spell in one hand and Flame Atronach spell in the other. Then I grab my trusted friend, the Bow of Flames.

My bow. I see them before they see me. By the time they realize I'm there, it's too late.

But, for those rare times I'm caught off guard; dual wielding swords. But, like I said it's rare I resort to blades.

Naturally, it depends on the character.

My current dual-wielding thief/assassin carries two scimitars that she "liberated" from a couple of Alik'r who were harrassing a woman by the side of the road. My previous character a 2-Hand warrior, carried a Dragonbone Claymore.

Nothing, actually.
If I'm strolling thru the wilderness and run into some menace, I can either quickly draw out a weapon, switch to some spell (most often conjuration) and healing, or just fus ro dah the chump(s) and get ready at a leisurely pace.

NOBODY can bushwhack me out in the wilderness and have any real chance of success. That includes the strongest Vampire necromancers.

My assassin always walks around with detect life so he doesn't get mobbed out of nowhere.
Very handy for the not so durable builds.

I've been carrying a spare Khajiit in my scabbard for just such occasions. They're noisy, like to run off, and will crap anywhere, but very effective as a boxing glove.
