Where Are The Mod Tools ?

Post » Sun Nov 27, 2011 9:06 am

Where are they? Where is our 64 bit executable?

We were lied to about the game and it's nature. To the fanbois here I knew it was mostly bullcrap but we were lied to. We are waiting for the tools and executable we were promised. There has been almost no feedback and it would be nice to mod this turkey into something approaching fun.

Returns to Skyrim now at 160,000 players right now. Rage at 1,400 even though we have a half price sale on it right now.

Yeah, it's really bugging me - I remember hoping to make cool fights with the editor when they "officially announced" the editor back in 2010.

Guess that's not going to happen, and I guess any sort of DLC is not going to happen either :(
It's as if the game doesn't exist and there is no such thing as Id Software.

We weren't lied to about the nature of the game. We were told that it was an FPS and guess what? We got an FPS. Please stop spreading crap.

We were initially told that the tools would release with the game. Then - before the game was released - we were told that they would come later as they still had to stabilize somewhat in order to be suitable for general use on the wide variety of hardware that's available. All of this was publicly available information. There were no secrets here, there were no lies. Again, you're spreading crap.

We have also been told that the reason for the current delay is on account of needing to wait for AMD drivers to stabilize. This was also publicly available information. 11.11a seems good, but it's a "performance driver" release, not a full driver release. So if you want the tools now you're better off going banging on AMD's door about it.

Finally, shouting about it or saying "are we there yet" over and over won't make them come any faster.

We were told it was an open world shooter with exploration. Then about a 8 months ago they backed off from that to some extent; "Open but directed" was TW's term. It was fairly obvious they had tried to capitalize on the Fallout franchise and realized it would cause problems when directly compared.

It is a corridor shooter as most of id's games are. I was disappointed but I knew it was probably BS. A game like Fallout 3 or NV has a huge workload that id's tiny staff could never attempt. It's Carmack's amazing engine and more importantly tools that make id games what they are. Because of this we will never get an open world game from id. Carmack has said the id tech 5 engine is useless for an open world.

In the Fallout 3D games there are possibilities that are just not available in a heavily scripted one way only corridor shooter. In the Stalker world with it's always on complete game AI doing it's own thing the possibilities have few limits and nothing ever happens twice in quite the same way.

They understood where a lot of the single player shooter players had gone to and marketed their game as something it was not to target that crowd.

I was lied to. Possibly you were not I dunno.
