Where can I find Nightshade & Nirnroot?

Post » Thu May 31, 2012 11:51 pm

Long Story Short:
Where else can I find Nightshade & Nirnroot outside of main Cities?

Nightshade (Grows in places of death)
  • Riften Cemetries
Nirnroot (Grows near water anywhere = Really? ANYWhere?)
  • Sarethi Farm
  • Evergreen Grove
Deathbell
  • Solitude Eastern Swamps (Reportedly over 30 Deathbells, so I should be cool with this Ingredient)
  • Hjaalmarch Salt Marshes
  • Haafingar Salt Marshes
  • Honeyside Garden
  • Alchemist's Shack Garden

Full Story:
I'm not the type of person who like to explore or wander around looking for rare flowers, nor do I like having too many quests in my Quest Log because I just get overwhelmed and not want to play altogether. But I am the type who needs to do Every quest for the town I've come to love, Riften. Even though I've yet to set foot on Falkreath, Windhelm, Solitude, Winterhold College, nor have I seen anything more than Silver-Blood Inn in Markarth (had to sprint in and out of that city as fast as I could to avoid getting stupid Forsworn Conspiracy Quest forced into my Main Quest Log until I do it and end up in Jail, so this quest just singlehandedly prevent me from exploring Markarth ever again).
Anyways, I (at level 20) have decided that Riften is the one. I love its weather & scenery. It's got Honeyside right by a lake with great view. The town's got 2 Stores that open 24 hours a day. The Jarl and her Court Wizard are so hot and nice to me. I'm just totally ready to settle down in this city.
Because of the love I have for this town and its people, I'm obliged to help Ingun Black-Briar (who is also very hot) find these 3 Ingredients. However, since I have so much problem going to new cities as they seem to force quests into my Quest Logs against my will and various NPCs will have one time conversations that they expect me to listen to, but I won't because I'll be looking for flowers. So my problem is the Location List on the Wikis just does not seem to have enough of these Ingredients for me to collect. So I'm wondering where else outside main Cities can I find these Ingredients?

Im not sure why people get so picky on quests showing up when they can easily ignore them (yes they are still in front of your eyes but is it really that big of a deal).

You have links to a wiki im not sure why you couldnt find these wiki links showing locations:

http://elderscrolls.wikia.com/wiki/Nightshade_(Skyrim)

http://elderscrolls.wikia.com/wiki/Nirnroot_(Skyrim)

http://elderscrolls.wikia.com/wiki/Deathbell

You could also buy them from an apothecary if you don't like hunting and picking flowers.

There are several Nightshade plants in Falkreath - for obvious reasons, as you will see when you get there. The best places I have found for Deathbell are the various alchemist shops in the towns. Can't help with the Nirnroot, though.

As an aside, doing the whole Forsworn questline in Markarth - or even getting it in your journal - doesn't prevent you from exploring the town.

Lots of Deathbell near every town's cemetery (Falkreath has the biggest cemetery, so the most Deathbell).

There's a Nirnroot or two around the edges of the lake near Riften (and one on the banks of the island where Goldenglow Estate is--you don't need to go ashore to find it), and under lots of bridges that go over rivers, for some reason.

The only one I had trouble with was nightshade. Had to go back to Solitude a couple times to get all of those. Deathbell is easy- a circuit between Solitude and Morthal should get you those. Nirnroot- Sarethi farm or just ride the rivers a while and keep an eye out on the bank.

Ingunn might be hot, but she's a freaking hokerr. Watch what she slips you in those potions. lol

Are the Nightshades on the ground level of Labrynthian? I originally thought Labrynthian was the basemant of Winterhold College, guess I was wrong. Will there be any repercussions if I go there and clear the place without any quests?

Hey, two of your links do not seem to work. Anyways I've checked the information on all the Ingredients Pages and it does not seem to have enough that are outside the main Cities.

Markarth's Forsworn quest does put your character in Jail, doesn't it? Are there any ways around it? I really wouldn't have any problem doing the quest if I don't get punished by being put in Jail or getting my Bounty added..

You do get put in jail but, without spoilers, it does not affect your reputation in the slightest.

Nirnroot
Spoiler
glows in the dark, so whenever you're travelling by a bridge / river at night, scout around for mysterious lights

I've found nighttime to be the best time to find Nirnroot, you can see it's glow from a good distance away

Nightshade is in the cemetery northwest of whiterun. I found some nirnroot on the northwest coastline of the Solitude peninsula.

There are two in the Mage College. I think they re-spawn too.
