Where Do I Get Dragon Souls From Please?

Post » Sat Jun 09, 2012 4:15 pm

Excuse me? Can anyone advise me please?

I've been quite unsure how I receive, or where to get dragon souls from. :(
I've killed a few dragons in this game already, and everytime I do, I get an ingame message across the top of my screen telling me that
I have absorbed a dragon soul. But I'm very confused. :(

I already have the ability to use "Whirlwind Spirit," and "Unrelenting Force," becasue I gained use of them from completing a
couple of quests and was rewarded to use them. (ya know, the infamous.... FUS.... DO RAA!)

But along the way, I have also picked up other dragon shouts from variious dungeons. ("Slow time," "Frost Breath," and "Become Ethereal")
I click on them in my magic list to attempt to use 1, but I just get a normal ingame message telling me that I need dragon souls to be able to use and unlock them. :(

This has really confused me! :(
If I have already absorbed dragon souls from killing dragons, then shouldn't I be able to use these other dragon shouts?
I just do NOT get it! Why is it telling me this?? :(

How on earth do I get these other dragon shouts to work, (to unlock them) and where on earth do I get dragon souls from?

Please help me anyone????

Edit : I'm playing this game on the X Box 360 if that will help anyone to give me better controller directions.

You don't use dragon souls with a mouse click but with an r button (or if you're on console any other button that it says "unlock" on the botton of the screen. I was confused with this too at 1st.

ninja'd

I'm really sorry, but I still don't understand! :(

How do I know/find out how many dragon souls I have?
They're not like an item in your inventory that you can clearly see! So that's of no help at all! :(

Pressing any "R" buttons on my game pad does absolutely nothing in regards to dragon souls either! :(

Also, if there is any small text at the bottom of the screen, then I can't really see it, becasue the X Box resolution settings are
not completely compatible with those on my t.v. screen, and so I've found that in some games, (like Fabe 2 for e.g.) any text right up top or way down the bottom gets cut off and I cannot read it. :-/

I think this is also a similar issue with the health bar.
Is it like a gaudy green colour? I want to confirm if I'm right here as to whether I can see it or not.
I can kinda see the top half it, and have a rough idea what my health is.
So that might be okay.

What kind of tv do you use? Have you tried changing the display settings on the Xbox?

Under Magic, go to "Shouts" and look to see if any shouts have a darkened word of power. Press "X" on that shout, and if you have a dragon soul, it will ask you if you want to unlock that word of power. Do that, and you should be able to use that word now. You have to do each word individually, with exceptions to quest specific shouts.

Edit: Also, Dragon Souls are absorbed by killing them,

Press X on the xbox to unlock them.

Ahaaa!! THANK YOU INDEED!! YES! That worked!! Thank you..... thank you..... and thrice tmes..... THANK you!!!
I click my "X" button on the dragon shout, (in my shouts list) and it opens a small box saying, -----"spend soul!"----
to which I either click my "A" button to say "OK" or "Cancel"

Now it works! Thanks again!!

Just wondering though. Is there any way to see how many dragon souls I have?
I could be away from the game for god knows how long, then return and completely forget how many dragon souls I have collected previously.
Would be nice to actually see how many I have.

Hmm.... I don't think I can see those. How strange.
I feel my health is doing okay, but sometimes I get city residents saying to me, "you look a little sick, are you feeling okay?" :P
Might try to see if I can sort out my X Box res settings somehow.

It's a kind of old-ish JVC widescreen. (think its 32 inch, but unsure without checking)
It just cuts off small text at very bottom of game screen sometimes.
Maybe I need a better t.v.

That means you have a disease. Go to magic and look at active effects to see if a disease is negatively affecting you. Pray at a chapel's altar to be cured.

Or sometimes it's just a shopkeeper being annoying trying to sell you stuff you don't really need.

If you are told you look like you have a specific disease by an alchemy shop owner, then they are trying to scam you into buying something...if it's someone on the street that tells you that you look sick, then go to a shrine and get a blessing, or take a cure disease potion...you can check if you have a disease by going into your 'magic' menu, and selecting 'active effects'...that will give you a list of all the effects, enchants, spells and diseases that you currently have.

Enjoy your game :)

Fascinating! I never noticed this statistic before but confirm that Ratsneve currently has 13 dragon souls to use...and that's left over--all shouts are unlocked. There was one dragon kill so far that never announced the capture of any dragon soul. I've killed lots of dragons and haven't missed an opportunity.

Thanks for that! That's the best answer of knowing whether or not I have caused some kind of disease to my game char. :)

I haven't experienced a scam yet. (didn't know that was even possible in a computer game :P) But next time I login to my game,
I'll check the active effects in my magic menu like you advised. :)

I don't think I have any cure disease potions. Think they'll be sold either from the wizard at Whiterun for e.g or an alchemy seller, right?

1 quick question if I may?
Where do I find a shrine to get a blessing?

Thanks again for your reply. It was very helpful!:)
