"Where's New Canaan, anyway?"

Apparently we will never know. Isn't it?
A bit disappointed, but all right. HH better be good.

Meh. Mormons are so friendly. No conflict makes for lousy storytelling.

While the "Van Buren" Fallout game (Interplay/Black Isles planned Fallout 3) was never made, a lot of it has been rolled into New Vegas and the history of the area. Design documents from Van Buren were released years ago and provided a history for New Canaan, which was supposed to be a settlement you could visit in that game. All the details are in the wiki. What we've been told in New Vegas strongly supports the idea that they have remained consistent with the Van Buren details.

Well, hint hint Ringo says that he's headed a caravan up to New Canaan. Sooo maybe you travel with him, or replacement if you kill him...or maybe not at all. But That's a possiblilty.

I wonder what happens if the player killed Ringo -and- wiped out the entire Crimson Caravan faction. Lol.

Wasn't Layla also escaping up to New Canaan?

We know it exists so it should merely be a matter of when for the fallout universe. was interested in New Canaan and Vault 70 personally. Sounds like a load of fun.

We won't be seeing New Canaan in this Fallout game, not even in DLC. Ogden/New Canaan is way to far north east of New Vegas, even for travel in DLC. Zion National Park is in the south western portion of Utah, much closer to New Vegas.

Unless they've moved New Canaan closer to Zion National Park, I wouldn't be expecting to see New Canaan at all. Zion and Ogden/New Canaan are practically across the state from each other. There is no way we'll be visiting New Canaan if they keep it in RL Ogden Utah. The Graffiti is a reference to the DLC but it doesn't mean we actually get to go to New Canaan. Pull up a map of Utah and look how far apart Zion and Ogden are, it's way too far to travel from New Vegas to Zion to Ogden. Even with a Point Lookout sized map it's still too far. We'll probably be with a caravan company headed to New Canaan, but the caravan won't make it because somehow they'll end up in Zion National Park, obviously the caravan is going to be attacked.

Zion is between Vegas and Ogden (New Canaan), so it could be the caravan you're riding with is heading to Ogden, but never makes it there because it gets ambushed by tribals near Zion.

Edit: Unless, of course, Obsidian decides to move New Canaan closer to Vegas. It's never confirmed in canon sources that real-life Ogden is Fallout's New Canaan. It was the case in Van Buren, but Obsidian could've decided to make St. George or Cedar City their New Canaan. Then it would be close enough to visit from Zion.

Or Springdale. Still, what we've seen of Zion looks massive and having a whole other town in it just seems unlikely. Unless it is small and doesn't do it justice, which would be worse than not having it IMO. Plus, that guy is a missionary and is probably isolated from his people in New Canaan because New Canaan is still far away.

There was that rumor a while back that Obsidian was working on 4 DLC packs (which turned out to be true), with the chance to make a couple more. Perhaps New Canaan was going to be part of the second group? Who knows for sure. It looks like Obsidian is done with New Vegas at this point.

Done with New Vegas at this point? How so sir? They're still working on patches and DLC for the game and will probably still be working on some after the DLC has been released. Don't see how they're "done" with Vegas....

I just mean they're probably done with DLC's. Patches and updates aside, I can't imagine they're doing more DLC than what's announced. If they were, I'd assume they wouldn't have fired the employees that had worked on the DLC.

Well what else are they working on? They are almost done with Dungeon Siege III (which comes out in June), so I'm pretty sure they are going to have time to make more dlc after Lonesome Road.

Very doubtful. You don't let a bunch of people go if you are going to need them later. Obsidian has other projects, of course, but obviously not enough to keep those who were working on the New Vegas DLCs going when future DLCs beyond the four announced are very unlikely. There's a reason why the summary for Lonesome Road includes the term "full circle."

If the DLCs did monstrously well, then maybe we'd see more. But Bethesda's next big game, Skyrim, is out in November so they are going to want the focus to be on that game and its DLCs, not more stuff for New Vegas (even if it is still popular, being in the top 20 of games played on both XBLive and Steam in recent weeks.)

I would rather they stop with these DLC's and save the other stuff for the next game. I would hope Bethesda stops current gen development after Skyrim, which is asking a lot I know. I would rather see a Bethesda game as a next gen launch title. Assuming the 2014 platform cycle prediction is correct. They could give obsidian the creation tech for another fallout game this gen, though 3 years is still a lot of time to not have a title.
