Where in Skyrim is the largestmost isolated area of wilderne

Post » Sat Jun 16, 2012 8:37 am

I'm planning to do a roleplay with a ranger type character where I live off the land, hunting and such, and I want to be as far removed from cities and towns as possible. Where would be the best general area, with the most wilderness and lowest proximity to civilization, and I could hunt and roam without running into a town too soon?

I'm using a camping mod, so I can use any area of wilderness as my home.

look around "the hunters retreat"
or try around the rift (the pale has some good patches of land just south of dawnstar)

Like previously said, The Rift is a great forest area in Skyrim. I'd recommend most areas which are filled with trees, or maybe some more snowy mountains, like those around Winterhold.

Between Riften and Windhelm is a large hotsprings/tundra area that has no towns or cities. Plus you could venture into the Rift if you miss trees. There is a standing stone, a few caves, and a Dragon Nest there too, so you should keep busy.

Thanks for the suggestions. The area between Riften and Windhelm sounds promising. Time to do some scouting, haha.

Angi's house south of Falkreath would also be a nice place, if you don't mind taking over an npc's house

The plains of Whiterun are wildish. They remind me of Rohan. Plus you can go mammoth hunting to boot!

I like being in the snowy/mountainous areas, because I always lose my way and get lost.

Ahem...
For those who don't want to kill an innocent who offers some training (Angi), a better alternative for wilderness living is the Alchemist's Shack just South of Ivarstead.

1. Free and unoccupied
2. Off the beaten path between Helgen and Ivarstead
3. The end table next to the bed is safe for storage.
4. It has a bed
5. Alchemy table
6. Garden
7. Fishing just North in Lake Geir
8. Hunting opportunies quite literally all around the shack.
North to Ivarstead and beyond, East to Riften, South in the Jerall Mountains, West to Falkreath...

Enjoy your camping mod and set up where you like.
But for those who want a ready-made place that fits your listed parameters for a Ranger base, the Alchemist's Shack is hard to beat.
