where's ED-E?

Post » Fri May 13, 2011 5:52 am

I was wondering if Bethesda could create a patch or something where you could either call companions to your location without physically being near them or be able to get rid of companions remotely. ED-E blew up in the gas explosion in the quest "There the Grass Stands". I am unable to find him or do anything but have a companion spot filled by someone who is unable to do anything, because he isn't there. Other than that great game.

pull up your map, there should be a marker indicating where he is. If that doesnt work use the console command

player.placeleveledactoratme 0010c769

should work. you may not have any items previously in his inventory though.

Excellent. Can we use the console on the PS3 version now then? I do have a keyboard and it would solve a lot of problems.

Is there actually a solution to missing Ed-e? I lost him the same way. For those of us who dont know how to enter a console command a brief instructional would be awesome!

Console commands are for PC.

If ED-E doesn't appear on your map (post-patch) then you may have lost him/her/it for good ...

I had something similar happen on the 360 - luckily I had a saved game not too far back, and told ED-E to wait well away from the area he vanished in.

I'm having the exactly same problem. My ED-E was vanished after the explosion and I thought I was suffering from a temporary glitch.

After the latest patch for the game the world map shows that ED-E would be located in the NW corner of the place where it was actually lost. Local map doesn't find him (or her?) in any floor. I'm quite frustrated with this, because I don't have a save game earlier where I would still have him (her?) with me.

I would appreciate any help to find my dear ED-E, because he (she) hanging around without showing around is making my life quite difficult currently.

I lost ED-E during the final mission at Hoover Dam. Tried to reload from earlier saves but the same thing happened every time. ED-E disappeared as soon as I entered the Hoover Dam tower. On the local map, he's shown at a location I can't get to.

A release command would be nice, but wouldn't really help there. Also, losing companions during the final mission can be a bit of a hassle for a high char/speech non-combat oriented character...

I lost Cass and Rex randomly near Freeside. It showed me where they were on the map but they were not at that location when I got there. I'm guessing they fell through the ground or something. I eventually got a message saying that they had each returned to their starting places (like when you dismiss a party member). That didn't happen for a very long time though. We're talking hours of gameplay over a of couple days.

I lost ED-E in Quarry Junction, I climbed one of the large Quarry conveyor belts so I could Snipe Deathclaws. I had told Boon to wait but EDE with his upgraded guns I thought might be useful. He couldn't follow me up the tower but instead flaked about below me, I saw him and heard him beeping away. After taking care of the Deathclaws I fast travelled somewhere and saved the game, then I realise that he is missing.

He is in my party as people talk about him and I have his perk. He does not show up on the Map and I have tried using the elevator in Vault 22 (also tried forcing the companions to wait at the lucky 38 using Victor, then the elevator in V22) my other companion appears next to me but no ED-E. I have also tried waiting in the wilderness, no luck. This happened around level 14 and I am now level 27, I thought if I keep playing he might turn up, no luck. I keep checking Primm and Lucky 38.

This is very annoying as I'm playing in hardcoe mode and need to do the Nothin' but a Hound Dog quest to get Rex and complete the achievement for recruiting all the companions.

I can't complete the game. 80 Hours wasted! FFS!

Add to that that my game keeps crashing/lagging FPS around Forlorn Hope and Boon keeps glitching like an idiot.

We need a reset command added to the game, if it works on the PC then it can work on the PS3/Xbox too, can't it?

Such a great game, please fix it and get your testers trained.

I have emiled this to the Bethesda support email address as I read the forum FAQ and realise that this isn't the place to ask for technical support, but other people should be aware of the issue and IMHO if playing to get 100% leave ED-E behind.

PS, I started playing after the patch in December.

I had no problems with Ed-E but couldn't ever get the game to play out to level 20 because of crashing... in fact I'm staring at a frozen game right now in hopes maybe it will return to game play. When your in HC mode companions die... would if Ed-E died in quarry junction? Just a thought I don't know but agreed this game needs work. Does anyone know anything about Dead Money? When it comes out are we going to get more crashes?

Actually, I just got the "Gangs All Here" Trophy without Rex. I picked up the last human companion and the trophy just blinged up! I still want the game fixed but thats one huge relief, I really thought I would have to play through again.
