Which companion has died on you so far?

Post » Wed Mar 02, 2011 1:58 am

My Boone died, somehow. I told him to meet me at the Lucky 38 after we survived the Boomer missle barrage at the AFB. Few days later, I find his corpse not far from where I told him to leave, missing both his arms. (And I didn't save beforehand, either)

I lost Boone on my first playthrough, luckily I saved before hand and booted up the file shortly after his demise to get him back. ED-E died alot as well. This playthrough I'm on now though, I've lost ED-E, Boone and Arcade, and just keep going with it. I lost Rex shortly before posting this, 'cause he ran through a tripwire rigged with a grenade cluster. I'm just recruiting as I go, not expecting to keep any of them around too long.

All of them, usually at the hands of Cazadores. I really hate those blue bastards.

Luckily I save often. :)

Well they do not know when is time to run from fight, so they die often. That is why I let them wait at safe place while I explore unknown terrain (I play on hardcoe). There should be some command to order them to flee. Its frustrating to see ED-E charging straight in to bunch of fire geckos ...brave but stupid. Or see Bonie blasting heads of Legion patrol you encountered while you struggle to keep relation with them reasonable.

Non of mine have died yet, but Boone is missing in action, I know he is still alive as I've still got the spotter perk.

That's actually just Boone's character. He flat out tells you when you acquire him as a companion and at certain locations afterwards that his lot in life these days is killing legion and wants nothing but. Oh and the only companion I've managed to lose so far has been Veronica on account of a decent size mob of spore opponents and very unlucky timing while I was toying with a flamethrower....too bad you can't reap any "strange meat" or it may have turned out profitable....

Yes I know about Bonie and his grundle with Legion. What I meant is that once Legionaries (or any other faction troops) attack you, you sometimes want to avoid fight to not deteriorate your reputation further. Your companions will however not know.

Is my game glitched or something? Or are you all playing on hardcoe? My companions only go unconscious for a little while, they never actually die

Ya, they don't really think about keeping in faction's good graces, but would you under fire?

And JP, they are still essential at the point you're playing. Once you complete their associated quest they can die.

Companions die on hardcoe mode.
Been playing on very hard + hardcoe and haven't lost any follower yet. Very rarely things get close enough for that.

As funny as he is, Raul's useless in a fight.

The non-humanoid companions are pretty rubbish, too.

I couldn't keep ED-E alive for more than five minutes. Stupid Cazadores.

A Deathclaw got Cass.

I gave Rex back because I was tired of worrying about him.

I guess I'm a loner.

None as of yet because I'm playing on core. Albeit I will send a .50 Boone's way once in a while for lolz.

Celebratory backflips FTW!

Vault 11:
Spoiler
I got the final ambush with ED-E on level 9 or 10 i think. I had to re try the fight maybe a dozen times to make ED-E survive it. But it did with no cheating :celebration:

Also Vault 34:
Spoiler
Three Glowing Ones and a Roamer ambushed me, Veronica and ED-E at the entrance of the armory, that took a few tries before any of us survived.

Of the companions i've tried boone is the most deadly of them albiet the most stupid. (keeps drawing his damn machete and goes rambo into a hail of gunfire when he could destroy them with his rifle at range)

Ede is very weak but funny for the music.

cass is probably the most consistent, seeing as her shotgun does fairly well in most scenarios, but cass is probably the most annoying one "i could do with a drink" as i walk into the rehab tent at the followers. baaad cass.

ED-E dies a lot, forcing me to reload. Boone has done pretty well, although I've killed him a couple of times for giggles.

I stumbled onto Camp Nelson last night (at level 8), so I figured what the hell, I'll just see how tough those Legion guys are... I didn't expect all of us to pull through, but it was actually pretty easy, and Boone greatly appreciated the opportunity to pop some Legion heads.

I want to keep the companions alive long enough to do their personal quests. After that, If they die I'll let them and move on to the next companion.

Totally ED-E... When I first got it, it was pretty good. It would sit back, act passive and shoot from a distance. The warning music I found very helpful actually, since he would usually play it as a warning when something was to close, but not go running off after it.

As time went on though, it became way more reckless. It died several times for just being totally stupid. For some reason, it really likes to charge right at fire-using foes. I gave up on it after it charged a pack of 3 Legionaries at Nelson... Anything that stupid can stay dead.

That's the only companion I've picked up so far, and frankly I'm worried to pick up any others now...

I've lost Boone and Rex in battle, I never reload a save unless i die or am forced to due to bugs so i will look into recruiting some other worthy bullet magnet.

ED-E is dead permanently, Since then Boone, Rex, and Cass have also died under my watch but I reloaded. :P

Rex dies every other fight it seems (although it is getting better now that I'm >20), I'm about to give up on him like I did ED-E :( I just want to finish his quest first.
