Wow guys, two pages in and this hasn't turned into a flame war... nice.
It's hard to say which you should buy before launch. It's very likely each platform will suffer it's own unique set of problems, as has been seen in previous Bethesda launches. Like others have stated, you should consider which exclusive games you want to play, and what system your friends have. (for maximum online fun) One thing that may really seem minor, is what controller feels the most comfortable in your hands. You, like most here, will likely be spending an irrational amount of time playing Skyrim (at least I know I will) and you'll want a controller that won't fatigue your hands. I personally have smaller hands so the PS3 controller is more comfortable for me in long gaming sessions. I have to rest my hands for a minute or two every hour or so when I'm playing on a 360. Other than that, now that Microsoft has finally seemed to address the Rrod, either console is dependable now. Another thing that might seem minor is the interface. I personally like the PS3's interface better. I find the 360's interface a bit too busy at times, taking a bit longer to get signed in and controllers designated and such. Sometimes I just want to put the game in and play, and not be prompted to do this and that, etc. But again, A LOT of people disagree with me on that. It's been applauded many times by reviewers and players. As far as the Xbox receiving the DLC a month in advance of the PS3, that's really a minor part of the equation. I personally don't mind letting everyone "play-test" it so they can get a patch in order before I even download it. That, and it'd be just plain irrational to drop the money on a console based solely on that reason. Take some time to look both of them over, and play them both for awhile. Again these are just my opinions... It's ultimately a very subjective decision, and other than missing out on a few exclusive games, both systems will cut the mustard.
