Which Console Should I purchase?

Post » Thu Dec 08, 2011 7:24 am

Hello Forum Goers. I was dis-mayed when I discovered that my PC cannot Run Skyrim in it's current state even on the minimum setting :brokencomputer: , and decided to purchase a console. After careful consideration, I found that both consoles had there ups and downs, rights and wrongs, and need to know which will last longer, play better, and which is cheaper. Thank You. :obliviongate:

Buy one of each!

Given the average price difference between PC and console versions of games I'd definitely consider upgrading a PC before buying 2 consoles. In the long-run (and probably the short-term as well depending on the upgrades) the PC upgrade would be significantly cheaper.

Ps3 better hardware, better exclusives, free online play. Its doesnt break as often as a xbox 360.

True, but then you wouldn't have one of each. And while one's out buying one of each, should get their PC upgraded too. ;)

PC You can get one that will look better than any console for 300-400 dollars. Especially if your just upgrading parts.

Wow guys, two pages in and this hasn't turned into a flame war... nice.

It's hard to say which you should buy before launch. It's very likely each platform will suffer it's own unique set of problems, as has been seen in previous Bethesda launches. Like others have stated, you should consider which exclusive games you want to play, and what system your friends have. (for maximum online fun) One thing that may really seem minor, is what controller feels the most comfortable in your hands. You, like most here, will likely be spending an irrational amount of time playing Skyrim (at least I know I will) and you'll want a controller that won't fatigue your hands. I personally have smaller hands so the PS3 controller is more comfortable for me in long gaming sessions. I have to rest my hands for a minute or two every hour or so when I'm playing on a 360. Other than that, now that Microsoft has finally seemed to address the Rrod, either console is dependable now. Another thing that might seem minor is the interface. I personally like the PS3's interface better. I find the 360's interface a bit too busy at times, taking a bit longer to get signed in and controllers designated and such. Sometimes I just want to put the game in and play, and not be prompted to do this and that, etc. But again, A LOT of people disagree with me on that. It's been applauded many times by reviewers and players. As far as the Xbox receiving the DLC a month in advance of the PS3, that's really a minor part of the equation. I personally don't mind letting everyone "play-test" it so they can get a patch in order before I even download it. That, and it'd be just plain irrational to drop the money on a console based solely on that reason. Take some time to look both of them over, and play them both for awhile. Again these are just my opinions... It's ultimately a very subjective decision, and other than missing out on a few exclusive games, both systems will cut the mustard.

PS3 is a better quality machine, but unfortunately 360 is given preferential treatment by Bethesda.

I completly agree with you my friend, it is all a matter of personal preferences. PS3 wins me over for certain. Also, I won't be getting DLC for awhile, because I want to completly finish the original, then move onto DLC. Thanks alot my friend.

You should just go with the one that has the better game selection. For me, that's the 360, but the PS3 is still a fantastic system. You really can't go wrong either way.

I don't think it's so much as Bethesda giving the 360 "special" treatment, but rather Microsoft giving Bethesda's bank account "special" treatment.

No problem, again, it's just a matter of preference... What sold you on the PS3 if you don't mind me asking?
