Which daedra lord would you follow, Hircine or Molag Bal?

Post » Sat Jun 02, 2012 3:34 pm

Hircine. Molag Bal seems like a nasty [censored], but my favrit has to be Mehrunes Dagon.

Screw Sovngarde. Eternity of belching and farting and talking about war stories instead of actually killing something? No thanks. Sure, Alduin went there, a battle ensued and whatnot, but in the Hunting Grounds, there is always a battle. I choose werewolf to hunt for Hircine in life and beyond it.

Molag Bal seems like he doesn't give a rat's ass about his own creation and he is the Prince of Molestation and Domination, you see how he treated you when you killed the vigilant in the start of the quest? He trapped you in a cage and had you cower for your life. Hircine, he speaks to you in dreams and gives you powers of healing, extra strength and senses. Think of it as werewolf toys. As dogs have chew toys, werewolves get Totems. And if they fetch the totems, they get an individual treat.

You're forgetting that you're spending this said eternity of belching and farting with sweaty, old, beardy, half-naked men... it's like the Oblivion plane of lemonparty

I'd probably have to go with Hircine, but Molag Bal would be another interesting one if only for how bat[censored] insane it would be.

Likewise. I've always loved Molag Bal since TES IV, him and Dagon were in a sense my "heroes". I'm a very evil hearted guy sometimes.. but they TRULY bring it out in me like no other.

Plus, I haven't done Hircine's quest yet (BECAUSE I CAN'T FREAKIN FIND HIM!).. or else I prolly would've said Hircine (cause I love being a Werewolf).

So, yea.. where the hell is Hircine at? (his shrine)?

EDIT: @Ryuujin - I swear everytime I see your profile pic it reminds me of Puss N Boots!! omg. :D

Go to Falkreath and go to the graveyard and then talk to Mathies or you could just go straight to the jail(which is in the Falkreath barracks) and talk to Sinding. That should start Hircine's quest.

@Snore - Thanks! I don't get it.. do some Daedra not have just open shrines or something? (Like Meridia, Azura, Dagon, etc.)?

They must be tucked in places like Nocturnal huh? NO WONDER! -.O

Sheogorath or Sanguine both seem to be more fun to follow.

Yes, but remember the Hunting Grounds also has muscular shirtless nords who are werebears. I am sure we also get to see some female who go there after death. I am also certain werewolves in his Realm are not only in their wolf form. It's possible we see fully naked people in the Hunting Grounds. But hey, sounds like a fun eternity...if you are the hunter.

I play a Morrowind based table-top game with some friends, and my character (Krok) follows Hircene. However, our Daedric Princes are less evil and more 'primal'; Hircene works out being more like Hern / Cernunus in our game. Krok also comes from a family of hunters and is an Argonian, so it's pretty natural he would tend towards Hircene, as the god of the hunt and the father of the beast people.
So basically my character is a warrior / shaman who enjoys hunting and killing, but isn't evil (or a werewolf, for that matter). In fact, he's actually the party's "paladin", in that he's got stronger moral motivations and outspoken convictions.
Of course, those motivations and convictions are illegal in Morrowind. Daedric worship typically does go against any existing stable social order... think "chaotic vs lawful" instead of "good vs evil".

True. Hircine is more primal. And in his nature, the survivor is who reaps the glories and spoils of the hunt. Survival of the fittest, in a way.

I'm going to choose Meridia.

Same. She's one of the few who offers non-fawning dialogue options. Besides, I found the choice of voice actress highly amusing.

Personally, I'll take an eternity of playing hunter and hunted roaming the hunting grounds over damnation in molag bals domain... ehll I'd take the former option over the Sovengard Steakhouse

LOL - after I saw Svongarde, I didn't want to cure my lycanthropy anymore...

Let's be honest. This is a Werewolf or Vampire thread in disguise.

Between the two though I'd pick Werewolf and Hircine. Even way back in Morrowind I never really liked Vampirism, but Lycanthropy at least I can tolerate.

Well except when people tell my Khajiit she smells like a dog.

Neither. I like Shaogorath and Sanguine. Sanguine would probably be the coolest one to hang out with, whereas Shaogorath is interesting and funny because he is totally mad. The Sanguine Rose is pretty awesome too, nothing like having a huge Daedra to help you win battles.

They are both pretty awesome, and neither of them are evil mass murdering death cult crazies. Sanguine drinks and jokes around and shao is a harmless (mostly) asylum guy. Sanguine would probably be my bro cause me and him are pretty much both bored teenagers

To me, that seems like the sort of thing Hircene would frown on. Predators don't wipe out entire flocks, they pick of the sick, the old, the weak and the young, thereby ensuring the flock as a whole remains strong from year to year. A wolf that kills more than the pack needs to eat is probably demonstrating it is rabid, not that it is a good hunter.

Hircine. Father of man-beasts and creator of two of my favourite items in-game: Saviour's Hide & Ring of Hircine.

Each provides a curse and an item. Which one do you like better and why?
I'd follow Hircine, because Molag Bal is one crazy ass Daedra, almost as crazy as Sanguine and Sheogorath.

Hircine doesn't have a shrine in Skyrim, AFAICT, although the way that you contact him during this quest is more fitting than simply wandering up to a shrine and saying hello.

Exactly, why choose the Lesser Evil when you can choose the Greater Evil? Go big or go home!
