Which game should I get?

Post » Fri Jul 01, 2011 10:54 am

Mass Effect 2
Littlebigplanet 2
Uncharted 2: Among Thieves.

I really can't decide.

Mass Effect 2 (ps3)- My friends are constantly urging me to buy it, but I'm worried about not being able to pick up the story line, seeing as the original mass effect is XBox 360 exclusive and I've never played it.

Littlebigplanet 2- I thoroughly enjoyed the first but is it just the same thing all over again?

Uncharted 2: Among Thives- I recently finished 'Drakes Fortune' and thought it was a fairly good game and I want to continue the story line seeing as 'Drakes Deception' is being released later this year.

Also, which out 'Uncharted' and 'Mass Effect' have better story lines.

Your opinions are greatly appreciated. :)

ME2 I'm no major BioWare fan but compared to the other choices...

Isn't ME1 out on pc? If so I would go with that, then ME2. Failing that, I'd get Uncharted 2, as You played the first on. Continue the story.

I've only played ME2.

But heres my list

1. ME1
2. ME2
3. Uncharted 2
4. Sac boy gsme or whatever.

If you don't want to bother with ME1 then don't get 2 and just go for uncharted like Jag said.

ME2 has that interactive comic thingy that should get you up to speed on the story.

LBP2. If you enjoyed the first one you should get a decent amount of good fun out of the second one as well.

Uncharted 2. Pretty good shooter. Not really worth it with the other two choices.

Definitely Mass Effect 2. I've never played ME1 and thought ME2 was incredible. Uncharted 2 is a great game but I think ME2 has more to offer. The storyline is better IMO, much more epic. And you get much more replay value for the single player, but Uncharted 2 has multiplayer so you might want to take that into account.

LBP2... potentially lots of replay value with level creation and online co-op etc. But personally I don't find hopping around levels as a sackboy as fun as blasting enemies with maxed out shockwave in ME2.

Uncharted, just Uncharted. I own all three actually and I had the most fun playing though it.

Uncharted 2 all the way. Singleplayer is great, and the multiplayer is also great. ME2 was dissapointing IMO.

When my housemate had his PS3 around, I found Uncharted 2 to be the best of the three games you listed. Supposedly it's also much better than the first Uncharted.

All 3? Wait, what?

I'm sure he means all three of the games you listed. :whisper:

I'd second the Uncharted. ME2 is a close second though. Not sure about LBP.

Yes it is. Don't know where the OP got the idea of it being Xbox 360 exclusive.

As for choice I'd go with ME2, it's got nice mix of action and RPG elements, an epic story and will keep you going for a couple of weeks.

Yeah, I wouldn't play ME2 without having played 1. (On that note - I've played both 1 and 2 on a really low end PC.... we're talking an ATI HD2600XT 256mb graphics card. It's old and weak, and ran them just fine.)

Little Big Planet..... there's a demo on PSN, if you want to give it a shot.

Uncharted looks pretty good, but I couldn't get through the demo - I can't accurately "aim" with thumbsticks, so I avoid first person shooters and third person games with fps-ish aiming (like Uncharted) because I just keep getting killed before I can even get a shot off. I need mouse & keyboard for stuff like that. :sadvaultboy:

(Uncharted and UC2 both have demos on PSN, I believe. Definitely the first one, since I tried it a couple weeks ago. :D Oh, this is PSN in the US.....)

Just thought I'd also mention that ME2 is heavily influenced by events in the first Mass Effect, so you'll have little or no idea what's gone on before, even though characters make references to events you unfolded. Thus I would rather get ME and ME2 for the PC, if only for the chance to continue the same character through both games. That said though, I found ME2 to be pretty boring compared to the first, with a lot of the RPG aspects replaced by shallower, more shooty interfaces, so your mileage may vary.

Yeah...let's go with that :whistling:

I guess not then... :P

If you liked Uncharted 1 then you'll love Uncharted 2, there's a big difference between the two games. I'd go with Uncharted 2.

I really don't get this. When I bought and played Mass Effect 2 I had never played Mass Effect 1, never even seen gameplay of it, and had no idea whatsoever what happened in it. And yet I thoroughly enjoyed ME2 and can place it in my top five all time favourite games so far on my PS3.

Previous experience with Mass Effect is NOT required to enjoy ME2.

Not required, no, but I still wouldn't touch Mass Effect 2 with a 10-foot pole without playing the first. Not only is Mass Effect a fantastic game in its own right (and far better than ME2 in my humble opinion), but it makes Mass Effect 2 that much better when you're familiar with the series/universe's history. After all, ME2 is the second in a trilogy. Not knowing at all what happened in the first game is like walking into a movie an hour late.

And yet for me none of that was even remotely a factor in enjoying it. It's a great game in its own right. It also comes with an interactive comic book that explains backstory and allows you to make choices about Liara, Rex, the Arachnid Queen and the Council.

You can read the second book of a novel series and enjoy it, but it'd be much better if you read the first book before it. At least, that's how I see it. :)

Off that list... Uncharted 2 would be my choice. The sheer amount of polish. Great voice acting, graphics, story, sound effects... Easy winner.

Of course it kinda depends what kinda mood your in. All three are very different titles.

Pick up a game you're going to enjoy. In which case, i'd suggest Little Big Planet 2.

I've only played Mass Effect 2 and if you haven't played the first one, I think you may enjoy it more than a person who has played the first because you don't know what to expect from the series rather than someone who has played the first and has had to settle with the narrative and design decisions made by Bioware.

I'd say Mass Effect 2. Playing Mass Effect 1 before 2 however, does add a bit more 'zing' and 'bam' to the game.
