Which of the Ede upgrades is best?

Post » Sat Mar 05, 2011 10:58 pm

I think of trying to take on Ceasar and his camp, which of the Ede upgrade would be best for this? My other companion is Veronica, in a good powerarmor and her standard fist. Can her fist be upgraded/replaced with a better weapon?
What is the best way of taking on the camp, start fighting in Ceasars tent or starting from the dock thing?

Easiest way to take Caesar's camp is go alone, and start from Caesar's tent.

As for ED-E's upgrade, I prefer FoA because it keeps ED-E rigrag look.

collect loads of mines and make a huge minefield around you by the dock where theres plenty of space,
start shootin so they run at you and watch the sob's body parts fly in all directions  big fun

Boone loves clearing out the Legion Fort and has a good comment when Caesar's finished off. I often take Boone and ED-E there for that. I save Caesar's tent for last. What I do is
Spoiler
have Boone and ED-E wait outside, run into the tent flap and immediately back out. The Praetorians and Caesar follow and then the shooting begins.

The laser upgrade from the FOTA is the best. They clean him up too; you won't be disappointed.

Pushy is a great weapon for Veronica.

But you give up your weapons when you come to Ceasars camp, right?

A cool trick is to sneak attack the main gate guard so that you never have to switch out your weapons when entering The Fort again. I used a power fist, but if your skill in unarmed is really low, then I wouldn't recommend it. To get a stronger silenced weapon that's not a holdout weapon, do the quest where you go into the bunker to upgrade/destroy the Securitrons. When you have to leave, drop a silenced sniper rifle to the ground and let the guard confiscate your stuff. Then, pick it back up, and go to the entrance. Make sure you're hidden and snipe the main gate guard. For subsequent visits to The Fort, your weapons will never be confiscated.

Only if you give them the chance to take them.

Honestly, the most straightforward way to do it is guns blazing from the outset. The only guys you really need to worry about are the Praetorian Guard in Caesar's Tent, and they'll happily wait inside while you shoot up the rest of the camp. Once you've done that, make a minefield (the more the better) outside Caesar's Tent, duck inside, lob a grenade to get their attention, duck back out again and leg it so you don't get caught in the blast. Then just keep moving, don't let yourself get swarmed, and pick 'em off with whatever your best gun is.

Yep. She prefers unarmed weapons, give her a ballistic fist and she'll wreak havoc with it. I think she'll use some energy weapons at a push too.

You might have a job trying to keep your companions alive if playing H/C mode though.

We don't because we're only going there for one reason. When we take the raft to the Fort, we go alone, no Legion take us there.
Spoiler
When you get the Platinum chip, you can use it in a building at the Fort so look for that. You'll decide what, if anything, you want to do there.

Make sure when you take ED-E for his upgrade that you empty his inventory or anything in it will be gone when you get him back. Good luck. :)

As stated before, get the laser upgrade for ED-E. The BoS upgrade only slows him down and he will need that extra armor because of how many shots it will take for him to kill anything. If you can't get a ballistic fist before attacking the camp, get Veronica Pushy. She also does very good with Q-35. Set her to melee and she will use Q-35 until the bad guys get close. She will then beat them to death with her fist.

Pushy?
It got ceasars tent on the second try, just rushing in, shooting, and healing Veronica.

It's not only Pushy. If your Charisma is high, it affects Companion Nerve from +5 at CHA1 to +50 at CHA10. The companions get more awesome as you level too....I just learned.

My current game is Unarmed/Melee/Explosives and I can punch out a Deathclaw with Pushy...never would have believed it. :)

That's excellent advice. I've been dithering around contemplating storming the fort, but I've never been sure if it work or not..
I'm vilified by Legion anyway, and the mark of caesar doesent seem to stop the [censored]ers from shooting at me on sight.
Do you think simply storming the place is a good idea then, in your personal oppinion? I'm itching to give Caesar a good spanking.

It will be tough...a big fight. I've never tried it alone. There are lots of Legion when you first enter the Fort and there are more as you travel further in. The Praetorians in Caesar's tent are very tough but they don't come running out while you're dealing with the other Legionairies, only when you enter the tent will they come after you. If you need advice on tactics or strategy, there are a few threads here if you do a search. :) Good luck.

Here's http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1163282-caesars-guards-keep-kicking-my-ass/page__p__17091113__hl__praetorian__fromsearch__1#entry17091113 I found in a search...don't look if you don't want to know. :)

How can I start the ED-E quest once I've already talked to Lady Gibson? Mind you right now I've done almost everything a good character can do besides finish start ED-E and finish off Boone (which may be too late too for me).

ED-E has to be with you so just run through the speech options again with Gibson with him with you. ED-E's quest takes time. After Gibson, wait 9 days. Then you could go to Helios One and do that quest. Speaking to Rivas triggers another step in the quest. Then wait 3 days and you should hear from the BOS and then you do what he says and then after a few more days, you should hear from April at the FOTA. There are other ways and other people you can speak with...see the Wiki for those. This is how I do it. Do ED-E's quest while you're doing others because it triggers over a long period. It's very worth it. Good luck. :)

As for Boone's personal quest, there are multiple triggers for that too...see the Wiki to check which ones you've done.

I'm gonna have to try it again with Lady Gibson. I ran through all her options but I think since I've been there already it's too late. I've been on the wiki too and I think it's too late for Boone. :sadvaultboy:

Its important to note you can't simply run through ED-E's quest, a few days have to pass between audio logs.

I did the FoA, I thought it would be better because ED-E kinda hangs back. I notice his accuracy is off. Also he emits this electric crackle while he's idling above you. He has really high HP, so he can take a couple heavy shots.
