Which of the above weapons would be good in an rpg about an alternate world?

an rpg in which a character from earth is teleported to an alternate world similar to a mythological world with mythological beings.

Edit. Damn mobile internet deleted poll. How can I add it back up?

What type of RPG game? Mixing all the weapons similar to fallout and TES into one game would make some weapons barely used well because of guns of course. Also , you already made a thread.

Yeah. Sorry I added a poll but it wouldn't work as I'm on mobile Internet. Oh um an rpg in which a character from earth is teleported to an alternate world similar to a mythological world with mythological beings.

Plasma guns? Bullet guns? And then crap load of different kind of melee weapons which could easily be categorized to weapon classes.

  • Energy Weapons
  • Ballistic Weapons
  • Medieval Weapons
  • Martial Arts Weapons
  • Improvised Weapons
  • Modern/Futuristic Melee Weapons
  • Archaic Weapons
  • Magic

There. Now I pick all of them since I don't know the setting of this RPG.

one handed warhammer, its very good when you play a Dwarf. The battleaxe is too, it does D12 damage with no enchantment.

It's in an alternate dimension which is in the future, but also in the past, and it is very different from our world, and you're going there to save some rich guy's daughter, whom you'll be able to romance.

If I earned a penny for every thread EternalDarkness made about his RPG-to-be...

Yeah, I've seen his other threads. But I was more worried if he was really going to add such diverse variety to melee weapons and only have mention
about "Plasma" and "Bullet" weapons. That made me feel like the thread was about RPG weapons in general, not just his RPG.

If guns or energy weapons are present, it kind of makes everything else obselete, magic shouldn't be there is enrgy weapons are, point in having both ?

If you can't even decide this, how are you going to make an entire game?

Because combining guns, swords, sorcery, energy weapons and spaceships has the potential to be http://www.google.nl/imgres?q=thousand+sons&num=10&um=1&hl=nl&client=firefox-a&rls=org.mozilla:nl:official&biw=1760&bih=893&tbm=isch&tbnid=PDFG7j1XLzZpvM:&imgrefurl=http://mitgas.deviantart.com/art/Thousand-Sons-Rubric-Marines-58013042&docid=2wVmJQB83_djqM&imgurl=http://www.deviantart.com/download/58013042/Thousand_Sons_Rubric_Marines_by_MitGas.jpg&w=575&h=335&ei=pfzETtyqLs7qOfP-qMcG&zoom=1&iact=hc&vpx=1188&vpy=175&dur=1265&hovh=171&hovw=294&tx=147&ty=100&sig=106443126184223652938&sqi=2&page=1&tbnh=125&tbnw=214&start=0&ndsp=34&ved=1t:429,r:6,s:0.

Egyptian power armoured knights with fancy blue boxes that possibly shoot bullets and laser while casting the hyno eyes spell on anyone who makes direct eye contact with them. Fancy.

Everything in the poll just sounds like its been scooped out of Skyrim.
What about some self designed weapons

Sharp stick and a sponge.

When you say mythological are you talking about the overdone middle ages style or a sci fi dune type style? Or something else? When you mention being transported to an alternate world Outcast comes to mind. That was projectile weapons and worked well.

I know what I'd not want to see. Yet another gushing obsession with oriental weapons or a bland version of Lord of the Rings ...yet again.

Might be worth looking at The Void for an interesting choice of weapons and how they were used. I'd love to play something where you use the ability to create light or darkness as a weapon, driving and funnelling opponents. A variant of The Voids use of colour and the related glyphs would be nice to see also.

The spear/staff/long stick has been the staple of all militaries in history up until the Roman Empire (which still used throwing spears and javelins). It then experienced a second wave following the collapse of the Roman Empire and lasted throughout most of the Medieval era (despite the commonness of swords in movies and games, the spear was the weapon used by the vast majority of soldiers due to its inexpensive nature).

Since you will rarely find a game that includes spears, and even more rarely will you find a game that utilizes proper spear combat techniques, I vote for Spear/Staff.

Is the weaponized version just a sharp sponge?
