White Knight Chronicles 2

Has anyone played this? I played the first and even though it was just average I still had fun with it. I've been thinking about getting the second one.

I have the first one, haven't played it yet. It's something I plan to hit up this summer.

Have to get around to finishing this. I was disappointed, really.... but that's because I didn't research it enough. I expected a single-player JRPG with a bit of online, not a semi-MMO/Korean-grindathon-inspired/online JRPG with a bit of single player. I've been playing it SP only. Thing that bugs me the most is that I'd love to craft some of the nifty looking armors, but between materials being rare-drop and/or dropping from MP quests that you can't solo until you vastly outlevel/outgear them, you can't craft most of the stuff until you're far beyond the point you'd use them. (Well, and the extent of the "grindathon" mechanics. If I wanted to do some quest 150+ times, or churn out tens of millions of guild points, I'd still be playing WoW. :sadvaultboy: )

Wondered about it, but when I saw how much [censored] you have to buy off PSN for some of the items, it seemed kind of grind based.

Yeah, the DLC they put out is another thing that feels a lot like those F2P grindathon MMOs.
1) lots of vanity stuff (hairstyles, decorative items for your town, robot parts);
2) lots of "best" items for town building (good luck making a maxed out hometown without 'em);
3) expensive, one-shot utility items (character respecs, character cosmetic changes, temporary "increased droprate" buffs)

Hmm..... no, the gameplay's pretty much the same. You can get a robot for your avatar, and they tweaked some of the points needed for things (like guild ranks, etc), but the game plays similarly.

At least as far as I'm aware - I only bought it in the 1+2 combo pack, so any game engine changes were included in the "new" version of WKC1.

(oh, yeah... one notable change, once you actually get to the WKC2 part of the combo pack, is that you can do "group" quests solo, with your NPCs from the SP game. Instead of just having to truly solo them with just your avatar.)
