Who is burned out with the game?

Post » Wed Jun 06, 2012 9:03 am

Well, it was a good trek. 135 hours. I'm kinda not enjoying it as much as when I bought it on 11/11/11.

2 months well spent. It was fun!

Who else has had enough? I noticed the forums are down from 900+ concurrent users to about 160 now.

Thanks!

Less than 300 hours in the bank and I'm very boored with this one. Oblivion gave +500 hours before it exploded xD

Oh well...was fun while it lasted. Mind you I have played TES only on PS3. I have Fallout NV for PC and the mods adds alot more cool fetures that keeps me playing it.

I'm kinda waiting for the mods. You just go through the game to fast in my opinion. At least that was my problem, I wanted to do it all and fast, so I did and now I'm left with this random feeling that I don't have much to do anymore... But I'll just wait a few weeks and then go back in, did that in all previous games and it worked. So I have high hopes that it will do so again now.

I'm playing on master, and just switched from sneaky light armor thief to a heavy armored sword 'n board user. On the same character.

Suddenly, not so boring.

I hit a glitch in the MQ and stopped 1/3rd the way through, I haven't done the Companions or picked a side... and I don't plan to until I make a new character and the bugs fixed and some mods... including Spellmaking exist. I've done much of everything else over 150-175hrs.

I'm kind of burnt out trying to get the daedric achievment. Every time I have attempted I have hit a glitch or what not where it woudl become impossible for me to coniinue. Sad as it's only 1 of 2 achievements I need, the other being pickpocket.

I am finding it rather repetitive, but I'm finding reasons to keep on playing.

I've paused Skyrim for a bit, and after FFXIII-2 I'll probably pick it back up again.

No. I'm still on my first character (about 150 hours played). With roleplaying the game lasts, with powerplaying it doesn't. I still haven't even started most of the factions (Mages, Thieves, Dark Brotherhood) or tried things like sneaking and dual-wielding. Those I do with later characters.

I admit that the game needs more random encounters etc. modded in to make it more interesting for replays.

The magic for me was lost when I completed the main questline with my main character (goody-twoe-shoe warrior so no Mage/Thievesguild quests and no Brotherhood). I tried to start playing another character two times but I postponed a second playthrough until questfixes arrive in patches (my main had some questbugs like the infamous Blood on the Ice questbug). Also upon learning the sad facts about the Skyrim engine from Arisu (TESVAL) I said to myself: Let em fix it before you play it again!

And this is what I expect from Bethesda before I play again (shortversion):
Fix all questbugs
Re-compile the windows binaries (Inline the code & use SSE)

I am starting to be.. Am thinking of Skyrim on and off during the days.. How nice it will be to pop a beer and put my feet up on the table and play on the 50" TV when the kids have crashed for the evening..

Then i play and i find out that the interior (My mind that is) made up a better vision of the game then what it usualy is.. however i keep start it for some reason

I haven't played since the 16th of December - been playing Star Wars The Old Republic myself - I wasn't burned out with Skyrim - put almost 200 hours into it, I encountered the Jorrvaskar crash-to-desktop exit problem at about the 150 hour mark, played on, but have heard bad things about what happens to the game after that, so I've been too afraid to damage my game further (as I'm not someone who plays as more than one character, or am prepared to go back 200 hours and start again) - so I'm going to wait until they've fixed the CTD issues related to large save files before carrying on.

Over 100 hours and still loving it.
However I don't play every day or anything - no matter how wonderful something is, doing the same thing every day is bound to get boring pretty fast.

Nope.

Coming up on 120 hours with my only character I've had from the start, and I know I'll get at least another 120 more out of it. I still play it each day and still have tons to do - the rest of the Thieves Guild, Dark Brotherhood, Companions, Civil War quests, a huge backlog of side quests, get married, skill-building..........

First I played a conjuration/destruction mage, with maxed enchanting as a sub-tree, and got to around level 45 with the ability to cast mana-free damaging spells. I learned a lot about the world along the way. Did some of the main and mages’ guild quests, though mostly I just wandered around caves and dungeons. Towards the end I was experimenting with enchanted dual-wielding with dual conjured minions, which was fun as well.

Next I leveled an archer/sniper type, and while it was a lot of fun planning out smart use of terrain and kiting, it did get to be a little easy towards level 40ish. So, I cranked it up to master, and this did help offset things a bit. While some may complain about balance I have to say, things do seem well balanced to the archetype. Yes, I 1-shot most things as a fully enchanted and legendary-geared sniper, but then logically, you really should be. An arrow to the eye socket is an arrow to the eye socket, no matter how bad a creature you are. Dragons still took 5-7 well placed shots to take down.

Currently I am playing my sword and board warrior Nord, and probably having the most fun yet. Mostly because there is a lot more action going on in mele. Don’t get me wrong, ranged is awesome, but in mele you get all the emotes, special moves, and are there in the thick of it; totally different play style. I am about level 25 right now, still just doing random quests, though I will probably check out the main quest or civil war stuff soon.

I just now got the game modded to where I like it too. That adds a ton of replay value. Plus for me, the game is so well balanced in terms of just being there, I still find myself inspired with character RP ideas when contemplating a new build. The intro sequence is the best of any ES game by far, so cinematic, and just throws you into the action. Now that I have a feel for where everything is, I can actually START playing through the main quests I have been putting off thus far.

Most of all, I feel my experience is right in line with the timeframe for release of the Construction Kit (or whatever they are calling it this time around.) Knowing how things balance, how things flow, and the general themes that play out in story and character interactions, I feel I am just about prepared to do some serious modding.

I’m still enormously thankful to have Skyrim. It has helped keep my mind from dwelling on losing my family home and grandparents, and my parents, especially my father, who mean more to me than life itself, getting to be that age as well…

It is a more positive frame of mind where, though I am still terribly lonely most days, worrying about how I’ll be able to survive a year from now, and while I still feel I have been abandoned by society after working and paying for nearly two decades, left with no healthcare or defense against biotechnology while people talk about jobs and going back to a simpler time where they ignore these challenges, at least there are some moments of peace, of calm and happiness mixed in.

I put 123 hours in and just finished the main quest. That's enough for me too for the time being. Maybe I'll pick it up in a few months. Maybe not.

Awesome game Beth, thanks for all the hard work!
