They should be fired.

I loved that swinging spike trap in Forelhost's crypt, it clears a hallway full of draugr without me needing to do anything ^_^

Maybe I'm just interpreting them wrong and they're not meant to be traps.
Maybe they're supposed to be lines of defense to keep the Draugr in their crypts.

In crypts, that could be true.

However when Falmer think this one will fall for a glaring rope in front of a huge claw-trap thing on the ground...they're wrong.

What why? I've died some from them and activated many. Mostly bear traps and pressure plates since I never look down...

The only trap a sneaky one may fall for is soul gem traps.

This one did get gutted rather bad by a spinning dwemer helicopter ground blade once, though...

Mainly because the typical trap in Skyrim works like this:

1) Step on pressure plate.
2) Pressure plate clicks VERY LOUDLY
3) Stop and go "Uh-oh..."
4) Realize that simply because you stopped and went "uh-oh," you saved yourself, as the trap proceeds to activate 14 feet in front of you, on a point that you would've only been able to reach if you continued sprinting at full speed.

And I dunno how many times I've opened a trapped treasure chest only to have a mace fall down in front of me and go "sup, I'm a mace? How are you on this fine day?"

The soul gem turrets are the only dangeous ones of them. The dwarwen traps you can spot a mile away from the holes they appear out of, so just bombard the door with fireballs until the tripwire triggers. In hallways Become Ethereal and casually stroll your way trough

That^

Apart from them the other traps are pretty lame - along with the puzzels.

Real life traps fail sometimes (often) as well you know. ;)

The swinging battering ram thing can still get me in one hit.

The dwemer swirling blade is insta-death

There was also a day where I was trying to figure out the point of bear traps, because I can literally run directly over them and get out of it before it even clamps on me.
After enough effort, I managed to get one to hurt me. They actually do a lot of damage if you can figure out how to be damaged by one.

I'm afraid I don't know, good sir, as I struggle to remember the last time I walked down a booby-trapped corridor.

I am seriously considering making a youtube video of a Skyrim character walking directly into traps though.

A lot of the traps though seem to not do anything if you just continuously keep walking :|
Stopping sometimes makes it actually hit you, but then again stopping sometimes prevents from getting it. but it's really easy to predict which will save you from losing like 50 HP.

You mean "Accidentally" stepping on every single trap? :o
that would be entertaining.

I could make a collab of me walking into them, ending when one of them finally manages to actually hit me.

I think the swinging spike trap is scary as [censored], at least at lower levels. Gave me a mild form of PTSD when travelling through dungeons after I narrowly missed being impaled on one for the first time, luckily it took out a Draugr for me instead.

Didn't hear the click you see, was in the middle of a fight with several Draugr.

Only ever been killed once by a trap in Skyrim and it was on my very first playthrough in Bleak Falls Barrow. When you cut Arvel The Swift free from the spider web he runs away in to the room where the Draugr start waking up and there's a preassure plate. If you stand on that there's a wall of spikes that swing around very fast and if you're in light armour or no armour then there's a chance it can kill you in one hit.

On a side note, there's a fun game you can play in that room. I call it "Bowling with Arvel". The way you do it is as follows. Drag Arvel to the opposite end of the room and bowl him toward the preassure plate. When his dead body hits it, the trap swings around and launches him all over the room. It's hilarious. I spent an hour doing that yesterday.

Use http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/2905 if you're on PC, OP. It fixed all of my trap issues. Just deactivate the deadly diseases add-on.
