Who else hopes crossbows have more range?

Post » Thu Jun 14, 2012 11:48 pm

I hope the crossbow range is a bit further then regular bows in skyrim. I was a bit disappointed with the range. And I hope crossbows are better, who agrees?

I hope the bolt flies faster and has a flatter trajectory. But range, I wasn't aware the bows needed more range. The range seems fine to me.

It doesn't make any sense that the higher level bows go further then the lower level ones.

I can hit targets from far enough away, I couldn't imagine the distance being further. .___.

I dont generally play as archery characters so thats news to me but, correct me if I'm wrong, dont bows have greater range by default in reality because theyre bows?

Yes it does, they have higher damage. Which really means they have a stronger pull and fire the arrow with more pace.

No, crossbows need to mirror their actual counterparts. Bows have more range, fire faster, but have less punch and output less damage.

I think his point is that because skyrim bows have very short range as it is, That it would look awful if crossbows had any shorter range than bows do now.

Crossbows sacrifice range and speed for power.

Crossbows are not made for long range. For that we have longbows.

People, people, Please! This isn't about damage or range..... It's about
FASHION!

Do you want to be seen carry last seasons bows? I DONT THINK SO! And what is
with all these arrows being carried on the back? That is so last fall its
pathetic!
Don't you want some nice short thick bolts snuggled in your lower
back, right above your rump? I know I do!

What I'm wondering is if we will use the same arrows for crossbows as normal bows, since crossbows normally fire bolts.

I'm pretty sure they'll use bolts, Look at her lower back on this http://www.capsulecomputers.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2012/06/skyrim-dawnguard-crossbow.png.

Oh I didnt see that. Well bolts are heavier than arrows, so you might get more damage per hit, but it probably won't fly as far.

Hoping for more drop-off, longer reload time (which looks to be the case), similar range, more damage versus hard targets (armored).

I dont think range has ever been the issue for my archer. The issue I run into is that the enemies that I am looking for from above the fort - just dont SPAWN until I get closer - I can zoom in all I want but there is just NO ONE in the fort until I get closer to it - then my advantage point from above is lost. The other thing I miss is just the ability to Blacksmith my own arrows - aka Fletching. Why cant I make a dragon arrow or ebony arrows or daedric arrows... pretty lame. This whole thing about doing more damage with crossbows - I am sceptical about. I can already bring down a dragon out of the sky using just a handful of arrows and kill most bi-peds with a single arrow shot from stealth. I'm curious how putting a crossbow into my characters hand will change anything.

I've never personally had an issue with range - my archers have been able to hit targets at a very good distance.

As for crossbows ... I'd assume they'd be pretty heavy, so perhaps the range won't be overly long?

You are right about that. Crossbows are more the brute force kind of weapons, making good damage
to armour and a good defensive weapon.

Im hoping it will be like kiting ki-ting, crossbow have no movement penalty when drawn, they are short range but pack a punch.
