Kharjo. Simply because he stays quiet most of the time. Other companions never keep their mouth shut longer than 30 seconds. :P

I prefer the tlkative ones if they have interesting things to say. That being said so far my favorite is Mjoll the lioness followed by Janessa.

You kidding? I couldn't stand Mjoll. She constantly talks about the father and I gets really old hearing the same stuff 100 times in a single evening. :yuck:

I like Annekke Crag-Jumper. Good archer, decent in melee if she needs to be.

Eola was good for my Argonian Assassin.
My Orc lass came across Ghorbash the Iron-Hand and they have been crushing it for the last 30-odd lvls

None. They just get in your way, and most of them have no personality or redeeming interaction to warrant hauling them around for anything other than storing items.

Cicero. Yes I know when you first meet him he seems like a schizophrenic [censored] in a circus costume. *DARK BROHOOD SPOILER* but if you finish the Dark Brotherhood, it turns out he was awesome. I felt really bad for killing him on my first thief. He provides much needed comic relief now.

The only good companion is a dead one.

Kharjo. Knows when to sneak, when to use archery, when it's time for a mace to the face, his recycled heard it all before one liners actually treat you with respect, and he actually makes ebony armour look good. Needs marriageable option for female Dovahkiin with 'adventurous' tastes.

I don't think the companion really matters it's more to do with what armour, weapons and spell staffs you equip them with that will determine how good they are.

Illia by far, I don't know if anyone else on here has noticed, but that chick can use Dragon shouts. We were in battle one day against 2 dragons 2 frost spiders and a troll(Beth reall like this combination don't they? -_-) and I backed off a while to heal and all I see and hear is her using Ice Breath added to the Staff of Chain lightining and Fireball and I was in total shock o.0.

I googled it and it seems other people out there have come across it, one guy called her a Dragonborn at first but that theory was quickly debunked in that she's a witch, so she would find it easier then most to learn the Thu'um.

I need to make a thread on this actually.

I have Eola with my first game and Jenassa this time and married her. I don't care for the housecarls and recruit them into the blades to get them out of my house. I like a follower in light armour.

Illia is my companion of choice as well. She's a tank, and I've got her using armor I made 10 levels ago. Once I upgrade her she's gonna be unstoppable.

Marcurio is my new best friend. Were both imperial brothers and use 2h combat, but the best part is hes a destruction mage, and Im an archer... so we have a pretty good balance.

I'd say it depends on what you do....

If you're a mage.. you MIGHT want a tank of a companion.... on the other hand... if you want to blast AoE's into the fray... another mage companion with his own summon staff could well be better.

If you're a warrior type... you could do well with ranged backup. Any Archer or mage should help you deal with ranged threats

If you're a sneaky assassin.... you might want to go solo... or if you do take someone... make sure they can sneak decently.

totally dependent on how you're playing your character, and how you want to balance out your combined strengths and weaknesses.

I've tried several with 3 charcters, Illia has been the best at keeping out of the way and utterly killing things. My Illia seems to trade back and forth between her default robes and given armor in area transitions, but she's still an ace no matter what she's wearing. Janessa seems to have the most varied conversation by far, and isn't overly repetative like Mjoll. The Housecarls have pretty much identical speech and are OK in various situations. Aranea is pretty good too, I'd rate her second to Illia, but better than most. I'm a sap for the female dark elf woices in this game, Janessa and Aranea charm me with their voices and they're not babblers.
