Who would you like Zenimax to buy next?

Post » Tue Jul 12, 2011 12:05 am

Just wondering who you'd like to see Zenimax buy, if they decided to expand even more.

In terms of putting it out of its misery, I'd go with Interplay. In terms of probably doing a better job than its current management, Atari. Pure fantasy ideas would include Basilisk Software - it'd be lovely to see Eschalon Book III with Zenimax's financial muscle behind it.

Who would you like them to buy, if there were no barriers to it?

I'd quite like them (and everyone else with a tendency to do so) to not go on acquisition frenzies, personally.

All of them. Make one huge development cluster[bleep] and then no one can complain about bad games cus they will always come from the same people.

Whoever owns the Deadlands License. Bethesda would do an amazing job of a Wierd West game

http://www.eidosmontreal.com/ (together with the Deus Ex & Thief franchises) and http://irrationalgames.com/ (and the Bioshock franchise). But seeing those studios are owned by Square-Enix and 2K Games, that won't happen. But getting those games for free would be nice :P

Wouldn't mind http://www.obsidianent.com/ either. I would guess that http://www.inxile-entertainment.com/ is the most realistic candidate, though.

Obsidian.

Not particularly a fan of their games to date, but I think they have the potential to put out some much-needed RPG goodness in the right conditions. They could be the perfect counterpart to Bethesda Game Studios' open world creations.

I like how, in the Sparkworkz section of their "Projects" page, they have this:

We host and operate a collection of websites, each creating engaged visitors:

Over 2.6 million pageviews a month
Over 600,000 unique visitors
Time on a game page: Over 3 minutes!
Over 50% female

This probably won't happen but if Bioware hits rock bottom with EA, I would love to see Zenimax pick them up.

Obsidian is another one and if they make one more bad game I could see them being very Vulnerable and almost Bankrupt.

Square Enix. It will NEVER happen. Unless they continuously make flops like FF13 and 14. Which I can see happening because Squenix doesn't learn anything or listen to its fans.

Square-Enix can rot for all I care about its games, but I'd rather see Taito continue.

Dungeon siege looked crap, but new vegas was a damn fine game, alpha protocal is in the mail, but so far I like what I hear. Yes its buggy as hell, but its a rpg, no streamlined [censored]. Character has lots of stats and choices effect the game. Give them better artists/animators some more/better testers and Obsidian would easily be one of the top devs in the industry. Its a shame bugs cloud what is a very good product and lots cant see through it.

Others just play it wrong. I saw one reviewer complain about alpha protocal but he was playing as though it was gears of war.

Would have really liked it if they bought Bullfrog back before EA bought them out. Really liked the Dungeon Keeper line of games, but EA seems adamant about not producing any more in that title series. Only thing they've even agreed to since they own the license is an MMORPG which is being produced by a company over in china for people in Asia.

Really though I would be extremely happy if they bought out Capcom and slapped some sense into them. This new DMC game coming out is a disgrace to the series with the "Emo" Dante running around an Asylum.
