Who's your favorite Dead Thrall?

Post » Thu Jun 07, 2012 5:17 am

So, after finally mastering Conjuration, I now have the spell Dead Thrall.

There have been several threads about who was best being dead and forced to serve you for eternity, as well as threads about how long do certain bodies hang around before clean up, etc.

But who's your favorite Dead Thrall and why did you make that choice?

Did you do it for irony? Pure combat prowess from when they were alive?

Personally, at the end of the Dark Brotherhood quest line, I got my revenge on Commander Maro two fold. I killed him after he had the Sanctuary raided. Then after I killed him, I had him assist me in clearing out the Katariah and killing the Emperor. heh heh heh. But not only was the irony there in my choice, but apparently the good Commander is a beast in combat.

He works very well alongside a Dremora Lord. ;)

So, who did you guys choose, and why? I'm curious.

I like getting a Volkihar Vampire at higher levels because they are just bad@ss against almost anything but my favorite is the Emperor himself. He may not be very good at combat but he is a great conversation piece and display of my power

galmar stone fist...something funny about a racist nord being slave to a altmer wizard ;)

I like orchendor as well because he's immune to my magic when he walks in front of 1 my fireballs

The only problem with thralls is they always get lost somewhere along the way

lol.... that's poetic, I should try it later when I get the spell.

Another problem is that, although my thrall was gone/lost, my "dangerous spell" wasn't making me any friends.....even folks who were indeed my friends....

ha true..a fix for that thrall thing is to summon something else to make sure the thrall is really gone then use a flame cloak spell. Dont know why but it cancels the dead thrall active effect and returns convo to normal

I just like how folks make half-assed comments about the undead when I'm in a city with Commander Maro.

Also, I like to visit the Penitus Oculatus headquarters with Maro in tow every time I need to swing by Solitude. Seems like a good healthy message for the rest of the agents.

"Not only did I get my revenge on Maro and kill your Emperor in his own quarters, but your Commander works for me now." ;)

I'm also really fond of using either Ulfric Stormcloak or General Tullius depending upon which side of the Civil War I join. Nothing better than having some authority with you at all times. lol

I find the generic high level magic users you come across in Necromancer/Warlock dungeons and wilderness encounters such as Master and Arch Electromancers and Cryomancers work the best from a strictly gameplay mechanics standpoint. They're endless and non-unique so if they glitch who cares just go find another. And if you get the right mage or pair of mages working for you well... game basically plays itself at that point as you can have 2 thralls frying everything in sight before it ever even gets close to you.

As you can tell, it can be lots of fun watching the bodies go flying all over the place as your minions clean up in just about any battle you can imagine. Having said that, a warning - I retired a character like that as it was just too good, nothing could touch me and every quest or journey around the gameworld wasn't even remotely challenging even with an increased spawns mod on Master. Use caution with this spell, it can ruin your game in non-obvious ways.

I was fond of the Caller, but she got lost somewhere along the way. I even saw her teleport once.

Yup. A Volkihar Master Vampire and an Arch Necromancer absolutely wrecked everything, and that was on master with PISE, Wars in Skyrim, Deadly Dragons, and Higher Level Gameplay (adds higher leveled enemies from existing classes). It turned into a joke, so I don't use it anymore.

Ondolemar and Ulfric on my main character. Ondolemar isn't particularly powerful but He does it mainly for the message they both send.

I use Hroki (random girl who's always commenting about jewelry in Markarth) and Muiri (girl from the Hag's Cure) as well as using Lydia as a follower so that I have a weird harem thing going on.

I like it 'cause I gave Hroki an enchated battle axe and enchated her Tavern Garb/Boots for some extra HP so she goes berserk on people, Muiri has a sick paralysis bow and some health enchated gear as well, so she helps control things from a distance, and Lydia is all armored up as a tank to get in people's faces.

The fun part is that I only play as crowd control and healing in an attempt to keep everyone alive as well as me, since I never took a single health upgrade, so when my thralls die and Lydia is down, I'm toast. It's an interesting play style, especially since I can't build up Hroki or Muiri to extremes through enchanting/smithing, since their starting gear and stats are so poor. My goal is to never have to kill a single person myself, instead letting my thralls/followers do the dirty work or, if things start turning ugly, use my vampire boosted Illusion powers to stay alive.
