why are all companions good (vs.evil)

A Ex-Legion/Legion Friendly companion counterpart to the Ex-NCR/NCR Friendly Boone companion would have been cool for a Legion playthough. Oh well...

It would be cool to have an Evil Companion that would whisper in my ear "Go ahead, shoot them, they are not worthy" as I was exploring.Or, say "What would Charles Manson do?" as I was contemplating doing something.

yeah that would be cool be like " your not going to shoot him NO BALLS"

I get the feeling from a few NPCs that they might have started to set them up as Evil companion. The dialog is either odd and hinting or they have dialog but do not seem to need it. The two that bug me are Shredder?? in the NCR Correctional Facility and the Ghoul woman in Old Morman fort.

Quote from John Cassidy on slaver which fit into my mind set about this:

Naw, I don't travel with slavers. They have a nasty habit o' selling you when they get low on cash. No offense.

Raul is sort of neutral, I would say.

Spoiler
He certainly isn't anti-legion. If you talk to him about legion he will tell you how it used to be much worse in the east before legion took over there.

You don't think the leigon wouldn't be above a little ethnic cleansing? (ghouls and mutants) Not that raul would know this, but still, point taken. He may be the only neutral guy. Lilly is close, but she's so nice to grandmas little boy!

There should be an evil companion for those that want to play that way.

However, Evil usually works alone, Good usually works with others.

No, when your evil they are just called minions. Just ask ceasar.

Just declare war on the NCR. How hard is that? Who cares if they attack you everywhere. You are an outlaw, act like one ffs.

There really aren't any new companions that work with the leigon stories.

Arcade Gannon has this ability.

Also, I found all of the companions and their back-stories to be pretty text-book neutral:

Spoiler
Cass's revenge hardly falls under the "good" alignment, Arcade Gannon will join his fellow Enclave members to serve either NCR or the Legion (why not MEEEEE?!), Lily is bat-[censored] crazy and just wants to kill nightstalkers, Raul simply wants to stop hiding from his own shadow, and Veronica cares more about the B.O.S. because they are family, not because they are good or bad/right or wrong. All pretty darn neutral if you ask me.

When I play an evil character I always try to maintain positive karma so npcs do not expect Mr. Sandman..... like a really serial killer would do!

I meant that for the people saying if you have a legion companion the NCR will attack you everywhere. I should have been more clear I guess.

It does sort of make sense that there are no followers openly supporting Legion in the MIDDLE of NCR territory. If the game took place on the other side of the river I would not expect an NCR sympathizer.

acorrding to the VAULT fallout wiki he was executed. http://http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Joshua_Graham "Caesar ordered his execution"

Yes, but if you listen to the Legion soldiers talking about the "Burned Man," they are referring to him. He was supposed to have survived and played some role in the canceled Van Buren game which would have taken place in Legion territory.

Yeah, they kind of messed up the Karma system. I go on murdering rampages and lose no karma.

Agree with the above poster, bring us the hanged man/burned man as a companion in DLC. he was suppose to be a "pariah" type companion in VB.

Personally, I play Fallout in a very stealthy manner. I don't use companions. They blow my cover too much.
