Why Are So Many People Hating On Skyrim?

Post » Wed May 30, 2012 11:08 am

Personally, I don't hate Skyrim, but I think it is inferior anticipated.

I think very few people who have played Skyrim "hate" it, but it would be disingenuous to say there was no reason to dislike the game, or parts of it.

Bugs are one thing, and no company can ever iron them all out before release day... but broken quests? Major side-quests that are completely frakked up or that never begin for a minority of players- that's inexcusable. That's what QA testing is for, and it's not hard to find early on that if you approach things from different directions, undesirable outcomes result.

So only childish geeks say they "hate Skyrim." I love the game but speaking only for myself, am very irritated by the messed up quests and oddities resulting from the latest patch.

I have not seen anyone say they hate the game. I see the pro supporters translating complaining into hating.

From a sociological perspective one might argue that our modern society has become disheartening, with its obsession with materialism and status and jobs over substance of the human experience, in a general abandonment of values, principles, honor, ideals, pretty much anything of any REAL value, because it's easier and feels better in the short term and most feel "ef it, I'm dying anyway."

Our society lacks strong responsibly compassionate leadership.

So, people look to a game like this which has in past installments (read: Morrowind) tapped into elements of that which is missing from such a disappointing society. Meaning, mystery, adventure, freedom, and purpose.

I can imagine it would be tough growing up in a world like this. Without a Myspace/Facebook/Twitter page to connect with the evolutionary principle of perpetual revisionism, we are forced to recognize all the technology that exists to change our world, in the hands of greedy disgusting people keeping it away from us, keeping it to themselves…

Might seem like we’re never going to evolve. So, when any flaws are found in something which reminds us there are still aspects of those better elements at work as well, people tend to take it proportionally harder than if they lived in a world where such things as imagination and creativity thrived, and defined the standards we live by.

Now, before I get your thread locked by a moderator who finds my answer too political in attempting to answer your question which is legitimate and might not be possible to answer without recognizing larger political themes that ARE influential in such markets and are so frequently censored by people who don't want to delve, go play Skyrim, and GET TO WORK! ;)

Because it's poorly balanced, the level scaling still svcks, and with the all bugs and poorly implemented features it could have used another year of dev time?

No, i don't hate it, i quite like it. But when you look at what it is and what it could've been... :shakehead: Still, a lot of that can be salvaged with patches and DLC, and what aren't are the reason why i got the PC version :hehe:

From a sociological perspective...

I didn't understand a word of that  I just play games and give my opinion on them on the internet :teehee: And i try to do it in a non-pushy, non-aggressive fashion ^_^

Sadly the majority of these "criticisms" are hardly legitimate.

No, it's "dumbed down" is not legitimate.
I haven't heard that one in a while actually. But there's no point in arguing with you about it. Since you picked the most lame of all complaints that you could of picked from, obviously, you know most of the legitimate reasons: Game breaking bugs, difficulty not existing for some weapon types, crafting misuses, hollow, pointless guilds and not sure, as I don't play mage characters, but I hear it's messed up somehow.
