Why are the Thalmor after me now?

Post » Sat Jun 02, 2012 9:04 pm

I'm at level 52. There was never a problem with the Thalmor before but the Thalmor just attacked me. I killed them and found that they have a note to assasinate me on them. I just started the main quest and just came down from visiting the Greybeards. Is this a related event? I thought I read somewhere that the same thing happened to someone else.

It's a random encounter it always happens no matter what. It's just how the Thalmor are, they'll kill you just because.

Did you happen to do any of the following:

Sided with Kematu and captured Saadia in "In My Time of Need"

Killed any Thalmor patrols.

Did the quest where you rescue the Greymane from the Thalmor keep

If not, then it may be the fact that you have been discovered to be Dragonborn. By virtue of being Dragonborn, your very existence is a threat to their plans to unmake reality so they plan to kill you.

Thanks for your reply.

I saved Saadia. She walks around in the WhiteRun tavern now.

I had killed Imperial, Stormcloak and Thalmor patrols to release the prisoners from level 6 to about level 20. That was a long time ago. No one came after me then.

I rescued the Graymane and cleared the Fort at about level 35. That was a long time ago.

The only thing I have done other than various Guild and Side quests since then, was this trip up the mountain to the Greybeards.

I haven't had Thalmor assassins show up yet. Or at least I don't think I have.

* I didn't buy Saadia's story. I mean if she spoke out against the Thalmor in any territory held by Thalmor she could have fled to a resistance cell in Hammerfell. No. Liar liar pants on fire.

* Well, there was that Thalmor patrol I ran into outside of the Thalmor embassy on my way to this cave. (I knew I shouldn't have made that left toin at Albequoikee). Messy business there.

* And then during the investigation of the Grey-mane's brother, I told him to stay home and I'd handle it without bloodshed, but my sword hand twitched and damn if I didn't have to wipe out the entire fort. That was some messy business. Amazing how quickly word travels, too. It got back to Whiterun before I did with the guards congratulating me for giving the Thalmor a black eye.

and there's that one in the College in Winterhold that must die. He is in Ulfric's territory.

There was that Thalmor patrol I ran into... and they did attack, but they were being chased by a cave bear and spriggan and I did a fus ro dah on them. Do you think they were after me?

Thalmor are all about the Hate-orade. They want everyone dead but them.

Hm, sounds like the Thalmor got distracted on their way to going after you. I've had more than a few Thalmor patrols coming after my character prior to level 30. I don't fast-travel much, so encountering all kinds of crazies intent on dying by my hand has become rather routine. I swear, I can't go 10 steps without someone wanting to pick a fight, although I don't mind their "donations". :D

And that brings up another question.

I was always able to tell the thiefs on the trail I'm a member of the guild and they would reply oh yeah I remember you from the Flagon. But now that conversation option has dissappeared!!!???!!! Where did it go? A bug? The only thing I can think that is different is I just completed getting the Skeleton Key and I have it with me.

So what happened here?

Those are different thieves not affiliated with the Guild.

I've had the Thalmor try to kill me (they had the assassination order on them) when I was around level 3 and hadn't even spoken to the Jarl in Whiterun yet. I would have perished if it wasn't for the fact that I could summon a flame atronach.

Wrong my friend ... I am referring to the roadside thieves who ARE associated with the Guild and always said that they were a member. I am not talking about the gangs.

To be more clear ... right after I joined the Guild dozens of roadside thiefs would recognize me from the Flagon. Now dozens of roadside thiefs do not. What happened?
