Why are there no Thieves Guild followers?

Post » Tue Jun 05, 2012 10:38 am

One of the most disappointing things about the thieves guild is there are no followers, it svcks because there are some pretty cool members that would make awesome followers. Bethesda dropped the ball here, hope they address it in a patch because there hasn't been a single mod that really fixes the issue yet.

They're not really supposed to fight or kill. They're thieves, right?
So, they'd rather steal and such than fight. I can understand the other Guilds and Factions giving you followers, as they follow diciplines that involve hurting others.

I don't see that as good enough reason to exclude thieves guild followers, take Vipir the Fleet for example he got his nick name while on a job in Windhelm with Vex. The Guild is under new management so you should be able to take guild members on jobs with you since you are the guild master and you didn't get the the job from just doing thief stuff you had to kill the former guild master and also take out a rival guild by force.

Well, I do not know then.
Maybe they simply didn't think of it, I'm sure it can be fixed.

I'm somewhat disappointed at this as well. I would love for the chance to take one of the Guild members out for a stealing bender ! !

Cynric Endell
Niruin

Thrynn
Vipir the Fleet

You should do the same with the original one. That is information not to be seen by some people. (Those it would be spoilers for)
But that's a good list.

I have already debunked that argument, they work in teams as well see Vipir the Fleet's story behind his nick name. If you are the guild master you should be able to ask members to follow you. How do you think Mercer killed Gallus?

Please do not post Spoilers in General.

People come to General to learn about the game without learning about what happens in the game. If they want to know about what happens, that is what the Cheats, Hints and Spoilers section is for.

Do not use quest details or location specific details related to quests/puzzles/NPCs in your posts in this section. General is for discussing gameplay and mechanics. General topics about the the game include but are not limited to races, items and their use, magic, enchanting, skills, character builds, criticism, praise, funny random things that happen, places from an esthetic standpoint and and other general topics.

Use the Spoilers Section if you have to post quest details or other spoilers or a thread about the same. This also includes console commands, and character build exploits.

I will move this now.

I slammed through the quests for the trophies only.

But I did notice that there were no followers. Which is odd, because some look like they should be. They act like they should be.
You would think you could use some as followers as guildmaster.

I do not see how a list of names is a spoiler in any way.. You don't encounter any of those people before you start doing the thieve's guild, so it's not like anyone would be like "Oh, I've seen that person wandering around, but I didn't know they were going to be in the thieve's guild so now the game is ruined for me."

No Thieves Guild followers
Losing your soul
No way to change the guild to something respectable (sorry Lioness)
No way to destroy the guild (like DB)
No way to get rid of Black-Brier's influence
No way to marry Karliah (coolest VA in the game)
As guild leader you still do all the work
Redundant ending quests to 'restore' guild
etc.
etc.
etc.

Take your pick. Worse guild setup ever in a TES game IMO. I did it once with one character just so I could say I did it, but I'll never join them again.

I agree. Not to mention that when the quests are all completed, most of the members address you like you're still new to the guild.

Nightingale Hall never updates and spawns the portal to the other place (forgot the name). Karliah stays at the dungeon instead of going to live at Nightingale Hall like she's suppose to.

And not all the trophies appear on the shelves in the Cistern like they're supposed to no matter how many jobs you do for Delvin and Vex. Got my safe after 125 jobs but still no Golden Jeweled Pitcher (it's suppose to show up after 75 jobs).

I totally agree.
I did it for the trophy, then deleted the save.
Never doing it ever again.

I highly doubt that it's the "worst" overall.

You achieve retribution for the murder of Karliah's lover that she wasn't supposed to have as a Nightingale. Just what makes you think she'd go "welp, Gallus went off into the Evergloam. That does leave me tragically... available."

Delvin and Vex both aknowledge you as Guild Master when you do jobs for them; in particular, when you screw up and fail a mission, their ire goes from "you svck" to "please don't do it again if you're okay with that, boss."

Nocturnal clears a good chunk out of your debt to her when you return the Key. In particular, she promises you a place in the Evergloam (so you can help your fellow thieves forever and ever, basically) and seems to get rid of the "guard the Sepulcher as a ghostie" thing, though you're still obliged to defend it while living. Though since you're not actively useful to her, I'd imagine she wouldn't be clamoring for your soul on death if you been a little soul-coquette.

Also, since many of the Thieves Guild members are the same class and the same level offset, there is little functional difference between them, probably not enough to justify them as followers (though I believe that all except Thrynn can be made followers using console commands). And it's not a "bug" -- considering how people complain about followers ruining sneaking, I'm surprised you'd even want any of your guildmates' help.

Except that as fellow thieves, you'd expect them to be better at sneaking than other followers and thus they likely wouldn't ruin your own sneak attempts.

I figure on thieving jobs the fewer the better unless you're pulling of a proper heist or large-scale grift. With fewer actors there is smaller footprint and fewer people to flip so you're better off solo. You have followers on the big capers where you might need them, but usually thieves work better solo. :ninja:

Thieves running solo is just an opinion, besides followers that sneak was fixed in the last patch. I like to have followers and as the guild master you should have the option to take a follower that's all. I have to agree there are lots of things about the thieves guild that is pretty lackluster.

-You should have the option to wipe Thieves Guild out just like the DB
-You should have the option to own Goldenglow estate which you would get revenue from honey production.
-Thief Followers
-The option to restore the volt (maybe purchasable through Delvin)

Those few tweaks there would make the guild so much better and make it not feel so empty.

That is the #1 reason why I wouldn't want one of them following me around. You never know who's feeling "ambitious".
