Why are treehuggers absent from TES?

Post » Wed Jun 06, 2012 10:36 am

I find it odd that druids have never been a part of TES, and rangers didn't survive the change from TES 2 to TES 3. We have all this beautiful lush wilderness, and no one to revere it? Now that classes have been done away with would be a good time to support those lovable treehuggers by adding a nature guild in a DLC. Possibly based in the Eldergleam Sanctuary,

Sounds like a good idea for a mod. But druids in the classic form are not quiet right in the current game. With the divines and the daedra, a class that worships the land itself doesnt make that much sense for an official version.

Not the same thing. Hunters don't typically revere nature.

They could worship Y'ffre, god of the forest, and protect nature just as Bosmers do.

I was referring to the Rangers the OP posted about. However, most who live off of the land do understand nature and how to manage it. If they want to be successful over time.

And the Nord culture as a whole respects the wild - they live off it, but they also respect it. They see hunting as a challenge - them versus the prey, and they don't slaughter randomly.

I guess it's way too cold to walk around barefoot and half-naked. Plus, this isn't the Witcher, so you shouldn't expect to find a camp full of nature-worshipping naked girls calling themselves "dryads" and waiting to schtoop you.

The closest to the treehugger camp that I found was that area where you get the spare parts for the Gildergreen.

You mean poachers? ;)

It's the Witches I'm not sure what happened too - they're probably the closest to druids in TES, though more daedric than nature worshippers. Maybe preistesses have taken their place.

Several guards in Oblivion called my Bosmer a tree-hugger. Menacingly. :(

Forsworn Brairhearts, and Forsworn Shaman would fit the bill for Druid methinks.

Some of the followers of the goddess Kyne are druid-like. Do the Gildergreen quest in Whiterun and you will see.

Or Kynareth. Isn't she the goddess of nature?

We do so- at least in real life. The vast majority of funds used to preserve natural habitats and manage wild life comes from hunters. Too many people seem to get the idea that just because a person kills an animal that they do so out some kind of malice or hatred. It's done for various reasons, including food, challenge, and population management, but never out of any kind of negative feeling towards the animal.

The fact is, hunters have more reason to protect and preserve nature than most.
