Why cant I get drunk.

You should really be able to drink enough ale/mead/wine that your characters vision goes blurry then stagers about and falls flat on his face.

Maybe because of the lack of toilets.

I chugged a vial of Sleeping Tree sap and it made things go fuzzy for a short while. UESP stated is provides a 'drug-like' effect and is the only known item to do so.

Probably because they knew a lot of kiddies are going to end up playing this game so they decided not to implement drunk effects.

(Come on, look at all of the effects of the so-called alcoholic drinks. Lame!)

So to do #2 you have to run from your home to some random dungeon full of bandits ? :D

So shouting why dont you just bleed to death then decapitating someone if fine but one to many is not ?.That just doesnt stack up in terms of making any sense I just feel it would add a bit to the role play of being a mead loving Nord.

The effects of drinking certain things could be improved - but personally I find the "drunk-ness" in games really annoying. GTA4 was bad. Red Dead was ok. The only game where I enjoyed it was a level in Saints Row 2 where you were drugged and had to fight your way back home.

But for all these reasons, best to keep it out of ES.

Na, but it should have more negative effects in large doses (and it should have more positive effects in small doses). Like it should increase speechcraft if you just have a couple of bottles, but drastically reduce it once you start getting truly drunk. I know there's no hit connection stat, but if there was then that's something that should decrease.

All in all there's little point in them programming these effects so long as there's no real reason to drink it in the first place. It'd be great if there were "Dutch courage" bonuses to give us some incentive to consume alcohol.

That cutscene was priceless if you gave your character the Cockney accent (traditional slang heavy London). Yeah, I loved the effects for that mission. The way you accidentally shot your way out of certain death was very well put together - underappreciatedgame, that.

My Imperial tends to chug wine to boost his stamina during battle (but never Nord mead, he can't stand the taste of that stuff). It would be interesting if there was a lasting effect from doing it.

I liked how it was done in the Fable games, screen gets blurry, and controls get sloshy, and eventually the character falls over puking. On Second thought, better to do it in real life and just play.

If you want to get drunk, try speaking to Sam Guevenne. Funny questline.

True it is lame..

But this game has a rating.

Just because kids play Call of Duty means they have to take out all of the cussing and blood? No, because it's their fault for buying the game. Christ, a KID doesn't buy a 'Mature' game. They SHOULDN'T, so I don't see why they penalize us for it >:l

It would be cool and funny if getting drunk gets implemented in the game.
Edit: I find it funny that getting drunk in Skyrim would be lame and ''kids'' find it ''kid-ish'' while on GTA it's like ''omglolbbq''...

i seem to remember morrowinds stuff having more ups and downs now it's all 25 stamina. it's very bland and seems to have been done to distance things like moon sugar from being viewed as the drugs they are.

i find it rediculous that decapitating people in slow motion 3000 times is okay but if they're under a certain age it's bad. yay to the [censored] at bethesda who decided on the annoying and unkillable witnesses. making all the farm animals witnesses was also a great idea...

...and no one in the world swears?

other than the violence this game is for children, they're legally obligated to put an 'M' on the cover because of the violence alone, but they did thier best to make sure everything else is rated 'E'. because appealing to a wider audience also means selling this game to the half of the gaming market which is younger than 18.

i really wish i had got this for pc...after being screwed til the second week of feb. (ps3) the last thing i want to do is inflate thier sales by buying the game twice.

That's what I thought. I don't know why, but the lack of this little touch of realism kind of grated on me a bit. I got a mod to fix it though and I'm all happy now.

I take it that you've never played 'Redneck Rampage'.

I would say that that one has to be played to describe just how much fun it can be when Leonard (the player) is so drunk that the game not only blurs his vision, but rotates his forward view to off center, and remaps the movement keys.
*And how the the game allows the player (who figures out how), to compensate their aim for being drunk, and able to run sideways here and there by looking over their shoulder and adjusting to the altered keys.

** True... I can't see that happening in TES... and blur for blur's sake is no fun for long, if that's all there is to it.

One of the things I wish they implemented from RDR and GTA IV.

In WoW they have this well implemented. Even the drinks are categorized as mild, typical or strong. Some are very strong. Drink enough of even the weak stuff and your vision gets steadily blurrier and your coordination more haphazard (unable to even walk in a straight line, let alone aim a ranged weapon or land a blow). There is something... I think it's a kind of rum, that when you drink it lowers the level of NPC opponents. Not really. You just think they're weaker than you, lol! There is no quick way to sober up, so if your toon is sauced, you have to wait it out as you sober in stages. Oh, and the chat speech is programmed to slur and add the occasional "...hic!" to your sentences. I used to exercise it with, "Sally sells seashells by the score at the seashore."
