I looked it up, and found out very little. It doesn't add up. I tried watching the first episode to see if there was anything strange or creepy about it, but it was mostly just extremely boring. Can someone explain this to me?

It's not strange and creepy, it's cute and heartwarming. That's why we like it. If we wanted strange and creepy we'd watch Adventure Time or whatever rubbish it is the kids like these days.

It's so popular because it's rare to find an animated show with such high production quality

also, there are a lot of people saying that MLP is childish and that advlts shouldn't watch it... well I have a message for those people;
