Why don't any of my mods work?

Post » Sun Feb 06, 2011 9:32 am

Hi,

I'm a bit baffled at the moment, :unsure2: . For whatever reason, I cannot get ANY mods to work with New Vegas. Yes, I've got the Fallout Mod Manager from http://www.newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=36901 and the New Vegas Script Extender from http://nvse.silverlock.org/ - yet nothing happens. I never had any problem with Fallout 3 in this respect and I'm doing just the same. Ao, yes, the FOSE files are in the same/directory as the Fallout exe file, have my Archive Invalidation Invalidated (or so it appears), and so on - yet nothing works.

Any idea as to what the problem might be?

EDIT: it seems to be the case that FOMM isn't putting the mods' own .esm/.esp files into the (main) Data folder - which is where they are supposed to go (if I understand correctly). Any idea why FOMM is behaving like this?

Thanks,
DANNY

Maybe your directory setting is wrong? Check it under "Settings" -> "Fallout: New Vegas" Tab.

When it says 'choose the directory where you would like to store your Fallout NV Mods', I have selected a folder called 'mods' which is WITHIN the main FNV directory. Maybe this is wrong? However, this was the 'default' directory/folder suggested by FOMM itself when I installed it.

Any sort of Idiots Guide-type advice would be most appreciated!

Regards,
DANNY

Check your load order and make sure FalloutNV.esm is numero uno.
Other than that if the directory is set, then it should work...

Check the directory structure of your mods. Sometimes mod authors put the files into a folder inside the .rar. (My mod/mymod.esp, instead of just mymod.esp inside the .rar.) So FOMM will put that folder in the data folder instead of the files themselves.

Are you using a ArchiveInvalidation Invalidated file? Quarn does have one (that's the one I use) but I can't find it now there are a few others on Nexus but I heard NVFOMM has it

It's OK,

I've got my mods to work. I hadn't installed the FOMM properly - that is, into a separate directory away from the actual FNV installation, etc.

Thanks,
