Just as you cross the bridge you see a 'bad tribal'... a 'good tribal' then comes up and kills him. First time through I head shot the 'bad tribal', and then itchy trigger finger cause me to also blow the head off the second 'good tribal'. Odds are this is your problem?

The exact same thing just happened to me, what a complete waste of my time.

I get jumped, everything aggros on me (I didn't see ANY friendlies, maybe they fell off the bridge), made it to some guy named Daniel, he aggros I kill him, cutscene... un-freaking-believable.

I'd like my $10 back please...

Don't you see though, this is utterly ruined.

It's like reading the end of a whodunnit or hearing a major spoiler just before the film starts.

Many will shrug it off and restart, I know I made a save beforehand but that's not the point. I must be crazy, I wanted the story to unfold like a story.

I feel cheated.

So they actually let you go through the story.while being attacked?

Again, this is why I save before entering a DLC area.

I made it all the way to some cowpoke lookin' guy named Daniel he was hostile and shot at me so I returned the favour and got an ending cutscene describing all this wonderful stuff that some other Courier must have done (just walked through the park and had about 3 or 4 random encounters).

Oh I saved before hand, I've been playing New Vegas since launch, I know what to expect. I'm not entirely sure I killed them, I think they may have fallen through the geometry or something.

Regardless, having one pivotal NPC near a rickety bridge (I assume they are supposed to be near that bridge? I really don't know! heh), surrounded by guys who just killed your new friends is probably not the best decision ever... At least have a backup NPC in a safer spot (like that campground near the middle of the map).

Wow...I feel bad for you a TOTAL story ruiner lol

Marginalizing the problem offers nothing to the conversation...

I think the thing that surprised me most was that I was able to swarthily wander my way to a game-ending without losing more than 100 HP. At the very least that is broken (regardless of how unfriendlly I may be to NPCs), I assume there are bigger challenges lurking around the deep corners than the wackos (and their dogs) that I splashed on my way to Daniel.

haha, i did this as soon as i got to zion. Walked out got shot at saw two dudes on a hill, murdered them. Quest failed. After you defeat teh initial raid, don't kill the guys across teh bridge, follows kills him for you

Hm, just had a thought after reading another thread. My character was aligned with Caesar for a whlle but changed alleigence to a Free Vegas close to endgame, could that be the problem?

I'll try it again some other day and confirm if this is the case...

Whining like a little girl adds nothing to the conversation.

If you didn't want to see the cutscene, stop and reload.

Not THIS again...

1. Anybody who rushes ahead like that and shoots everything that moves shouldnt be playing FO IMO.

Then they come to the forum, make a thread that has been made a BILLION TIMES, even when its clear that theres already a thread WITH THE SAME PROBLEMS STATED!

Then they blame everyone but themselves for it.....

2. Some people really made the mistake, and realise that they have done wrong, thats k.

OP is 1....

well it was buggy for me at the start and it endend up lasting me 10-30 mins but i got it working and this is how :

well i got it working now
its still abit buggy just wait to everyone dies and then kill who attacks you

Then cross the bridge and DO NOT KILL THE GUY ON THE ROCK and if he attacks you run back over the bridge and go back to the start of the area where you got attacked then cross the bridge again and he sould not attack you and dont attack ANYONE that doesnt attack you or the hold quest for the dlc is TOAST ok?

just incase people have the same problem

This is what you get for killing everyone you see.

On the one hand, that's kind of true. On the other hand, it's a little more than just that, imo. <_<
I'd read about the darn problem (only in a general way tho, not specifics) and I still caused it. I think it really is a matter of play-testing not taking different playstyles into account. :P

1-I don't use VATS, I shoot in real time. After the start scripted fight scene, I kill these two baddies guarding a bridge, so I'm already in combat/ambush mentality. I start crossing the bridge, and halfway across someone on a high rock starts shooting at me. This guy is FAR AWAY I can barely see him, all I know is he's shooting me with some auto-weapon that's giving me pain (I'm very low level w/no big weapons, btw). So I shoot back and start backpedaling to find cover. Remember I'm not using VATS, so I see nothing but a distant little dude shooting at me, no names.

2-The shooter drops off his rock to chase as I back off. So I'm guessing the named NPC who shows up a couple seconds later also drops off and gives chase. This meant, in the heat of "combat mode", that I thought he was another enemy coming to help his buddy, so I just shot in their general direction, hit both, and Mr. Friendly goes hostile/red (I never noticed he wasn't red to begin with, he's so far away plus I'm focused on trying to hit the first guy). I keep the GUI very faint so in mid-battle didn't notice the Fail quest message (my fault keeping GUI like that)

Luckily I wasn't too far into the DLC before I thought to dash forward and check re:the issue and yup...restart. And in the restart I hit the guy again, since I didn't realize what had triggered it the first time, but this time he got close enough for me to see he had a name so I restarted again. Bah. LOL
