Why I felt Skyrim too fast to level up..

Post » Thu Jun 14, 2012 7:16 am

I don't know why, but I'm really felt that my character too fast level up. My char already level 27 just in one day!
But I've playing it from November until now, and have created many chars before. But this time felt too fast for me.
I just want to enjoy my player in low-level.
Can anyone help me with this?

Are you concerned with the scaling enemies? Or do you feel like the experience is running to an end? I understand where you are coming from, I felt that the early leveling went by too fast but it seemed to be well balanced. Constant progression is something that Bethesda was striving for with Skyrim, and I feel that they captured that almost perfectly.

Yeah I'm talking about scalling enemies.
I just felt that there're some skills that can waste my levels. For example is Lockpicking. I don't want to increase this skill, but this skill automaticaly increased when I'm lockpicking things. And don't forget, there're many quests that requires lockpicking thing.
And I don't need Lockpicking skill to unlock master level locks because somewhat I've adept this mini game. So I don't want waste my level for skills that I don't need.

and this. once you hit the higher levels (30+) leveling begins to take much longer to actually happen.

I think the levelling is pretty damn spot on. The way the player levels really fast at first but slows at around lvl 20 keeps things interesting. I'm impressed that there are some people who have stuck with one character long enough to level them up to 81 to be honest. I retired my first character after the MQ and he'd only reached lvl 48. Guess I'm a lightweight.

I find it quite fast as well. Not for any particular reason, I just don't find it satisfying if I level up quickly. To slow it down try to use as few skills as possible. Be particularly careful when selling stuff. For example wait until you have several of the same items and sell them all at once, rather than one at a time.

Levelling up really quickly just seems to be a fact of life with RPGs these days.

It doesn't work that way anymore. It's based instead on item value instead of item quantity. Either way, you're selling for the same amount of gold, so you won't really prevent a level up that way.

Also, speech is leveled REALLY slowly by selling until you are constantly selling MUCH more expensive stuff. Early on, it really won't make any difference at all.

I think Skyrim is too fast in levelling as well.
Before I know it, Im level 30.
But I enjoy being a low level a while before I become powerful.
I dont want to be 100 destruction after such an amazingly short time.

This is one of the times I wished I played on pc, because I imagine it cant be that hard to mod it so you only get half normal xp.

Leveling could go slower sure, there is joy for me in grinding to increase me levels in this game, I guess for me its not really grinding as I am roleplaying.

I was created my new char two days ago, and yesterday I reached level 27. And now he's already level 36!
It is because of I'm being used to skyrim? Really, I playing with PC, but never use console. Neither mods.

I tihnk if you play, and you're aware of the levelling, then that might affect the way you approach things.

For example, if I'm new to the game and I need to smith something, maybe I smith it to whatever I need, and then move on. But if I know about the smithing perks, maybe I stay at the forge, keep smithing until I get to the level where I know I'll get a bit of a better reward.

I guess one answer is to concentrate on roleplaying, only doing what your character would do in a particular situation.

Mmm.. It's not like I don't like this leveling system, I'd like this TES new leveling system. But, it quite weakness for those who want to enjoy the game in low-level.
For example, you're Archer. And your Archery skill still low, but your Speech skill is high because of you often selling things to get money. And because of that your char's level somewhat high, and automatically your enemies stronger too. But cause you just have low skill in Archery, you just can take little damage to hit your enemies.

You don't have to level up, though... you can bank them all for a later time when your archery is better.

Maybe it's because you're spending two thirds of day playing Skyrim (pulled that number out of the air). If you're gonna play Skyrim like that then of course you're going to level up fast. I played Skyrim a lot when it first came out and even then I never levelled up that quickly.

It's actually pretty easy to level fast in most all of the main TES games. Daggerfall has to have the worst end of the stick, though. You can level pretty easy there just by climbing like a monkey and pickpocketing foes while swinging a short blade if you play as a thief. Be glad Skyrim isn't making leveling as exploitable as that. Though, it's kind of fun to find those silly exploits.

I've been playing on a character for about 5 days now and I am only on level 10.

I reckon it depends on how much you play it.

If you get lvl to 27 in one day, then just start another character and do
the opposite of what you did that made you lvl up so incredibly fast

If you sit there crafting potions or smithing then your levels will rocket either don't do that or don't spend the perk points and save them until you find you need a skill improved.

Yup it was different playing style from before. I never level up too quickly like this before. When first start this char, I'm really carefull not to exploits the game. But astonishingly, my char too fast leveling this time.
Yes I'd thinking to create new char with different playing style.
Thanks everyone! You're really help :D

Actually, I have about 14 perks point that I'm not yet spend on.
I'm just want to focus on Conjuration, Alteration, Restoration, Enchanting & Illusion. But my Lockpicking, Speech, Sneak, and One-Handed somewhat growing too fast unintendedly.

I found I leveled so fast that levels were meaningless.

Dropping the starting skills to 5+bonuses and cutting the progression rates to 1/3 of what they are MIGHT make a level feel rewarding again...
