Why is General tellius buried in Solitude?

Post » Tue Jun 05, 2012 6:48 am

So I was browsing around the Solitude Catacombs (I was doing the http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Return_to_Gracequest at the time) and I notice http://i1096.photobucket.com/albums/g322/Raidensama/Skyrim/LegateRikkeGeneralTullius.png. 1 coffin I suspect to be Legate Rikke's coffin while the other one hadhttp://i1096.photobucket.com/albums/g322/Raidensama/Skyrim/TESV2012-02-2520-31-08-84.jpg.

I have a question. What in the oblivion is General Tullius doing there? Wouldn't it be more appropriate if his body was taken to Cyrodiil? Since Ulfric allowed Elisif the Fair to continue her title as Jarl wouldn't she had ordered for his body to be taken back to Cyrodiil for a proper burial in the imperial tradition? What is his corpse doing here in skyrim?

Giving players a wicked-cool way to get his armour I suppose, nothing more.

EDIT: I agree that it's stupid.

I didn't loot his body for his armor the first time... why do I need it now? I'm a stormcloak mage. Why do I need to walk around looking like the enemy? It's rather stupid if you ask me. I guess if you have a real annoyance of a follower you force them to wear tellius gear, and then take them to a stormcloak fort and finally let them have their way with your annoying follower problem I guess.

He may have requested that his body be buried someplace where the Thalmor do not rule?
EDIT - spelling

This is just as ridiculous as General Tullius deciding to execute Ulfric in Helgen, instead of taking him to Cyrodil and beheading him there.

Maybe he was a lonely individual and had nothing back in Cyrodil. Just a guy who only has his job and is deployed all over the place. So they bury him on his last "battlefield" so to speak. Or maybe he requested it himself, to be buried whereever he's falling. In any case, I doubt he'd care. Doesn't seem too big on ceremonies.

Just trying to rationalize it.

Actually that was the correct move to avoid dealing with rescue parties and reduce transport costs. God knows the Empire needs the money to pay off the Thalmor and kept the Emperor well fed now that the tax paying citizen in the Empire must be just a faction of it's height.

No, the error was attempting to take the dragonborn's head BEFORE ulfric's, thus ensuring an untimely interruption from Alduin/Gods/Fate

But he would've avoided the encounter all together. Let alone Ulfric being rescued by Alduin as he is about to be excuted. It would've changed nothing at all.

Killing Ulfric in Helgen is the same reason why he's buried in Solitude. He's not a man of ceremony. All business with him. Besides, I'm sure any strategist type would have seen the inherent problem in making a spectacle out of Ulfric's death in Cyrodil.. it'd turn Stormcloak into a martyr. While a quiet, no nonsense type of death is probably a little more demoralizing.

edit: On a sidenote, I really don't think either should die btw. One kind of represents the heart of the empire and it's soldiers. The other it's brains. They both lack what the other is strong in.

Wow, Tulious gets tomb? Ulfric's body is still littering up the throne room in Windhelm.

They were just going to send his head so that it can be put on a spike in Cyrodil.

Much more profitable to take said follower along for boethia's deadric quest

It's better than the way the Imperials treated Ulfric. His body is still sitting on the throne where I killed him in the Palace of Kings along with his helper dude who's name has slipped my mind who appears to be taking a long nap on the floor next to him.

Possibly they are just embalming and interring the body there temporarily, and you should assume they will ship it home eventually.

Well at least he GETS buried. On my other save, where I fought for the Imperials, I killed Ulfric and Galmar, and their bodies are still lying around the throne in Windhelm.

Put it on a mannequin.

LOL, that armor didn't save him, did it?
 I think similar things when I find healing potions on dead bodies. "Is it expired? Wait, are we in 3E or 4E?". :P

I'm sure it's so you can loot his body if you forgot before.

Makes a nice trophy in Hjerim.
