Why do moderators move threads?

Post » Sun Mar 06, 2011 12:10 pm

This is sad!

I posted a thread on a glitch problem and not even 5 mins a moderator moved it.

Could it be "damage control" to where Bethesda and Obsidian is tired of hearing about it so now the mods roll in to shut us complainers up?

Why can't we keep our complaints and glitch reports here?

Bethesda and Obsidian developers never read there I'm sure.

Just be fair and let us be heard!

Um... they move it to the appropriate forum chapter... I think it's something called "organization"... just a hunch.

Because they have a forum specifically for bug discussion. Posting them anywhere else won't get the information where it needs to be, so the moderators move it to the appropriate section.

They are being fair. They are letting you be heard. In fact they're HELPING you be heard.

This X100.

Perhaps you need to learn where to post your thread instead of the moderators doing that job for you.

Because, ya know, when devs are looking for bug reports, they usually go to the issues section on the forums...

This , and plus having just one section on everything New Vegas would be such a mess anyhow.

IMO complaints do belong here. However, bugs dont.

Pointless post removed.

Posting inappropriate one-liners like that here is a good way to get a warning and at least a 24 hour posting ability suspension.

Okay. You want to leave a thread where you explain your problems in the general forum.

I guarantee you'll get really unhelpful posts like "My game doesn' t do that. You don't know how to play." Or "LOL, learn to play." Or "You play on *that* platform; see, that's your problem." Not to mention additional not helpful posts like "Oh great, another complaining thread. We haven't hit our quota yet."

If you have general complaints, post in the general forum. You will notice a few other complaint threads; one or two. Hundred or so. If there is a single issue, the moderators may make an "official" complaint thread for it, but so far, no.

If you have a specific problem, then posting in the correct platform forum, with specific information about the problem "my game freezes when I have Veronica and Rex, in Primm, while I'm trying to finish "For the Republic 2" would be far more helpful to the devs than a thread full of the stuff I just edited from this one.

1. Why would you think the devs would look here for bugs when there is a forum just for bugs and troubleshooting?
2. If you're reporting a bug or complaining about a specific part of the game there are probably spoilers in your description, and spoilers in the general section make baby Jesus cry.

Because it's not the correct place for it, and they are helping you out be getting it to the correct location. There is this common thing around the Internet when people think absolutely everything needs to go in General and when a thread gets moved of locked it's 'The Man' trying to do something that's no good.

I have a different idea, I think a lot of folks just post in the first section because it's the first and therefore the most popular. I bet if there was a new section that was first called, Fallout: New Vegas LOLcat pics it would be chock full of things that had nothing to do with LOLcats.

Like /v/, but more restrictive. :P

In all seriousness, people need to recognize that there are different sections of the forums and that they're here for a reason. I even knew that when I first came here and was very ignorant about some things in Oblivion (my first post was asking why I couldn't become a vampire after being cured )

I made a DLC post and after about 150 replies a mod comes and like overrides my original post saying "Hey guys, just a super cool mod guy here making a DLC post, hope you like it, it wasn't that thefalloutfanboy guy, it was me hope you like it." :violin:
