Why not have move support?

Post » Fri Jun 22, 2012 3:45 am

Xbox 360 gets shouts and spells with there update.

PS3 should get Sword and Bow support with there Move Controller.

Think about it, Kinects better for Shouting and Spells but it would be hard for them to have sword support. But with the Move Wand PS3 players could have the benefit of Melle weapons

Know it's not gonna happen though and i dont care much for Motion Controll anyway, but i still think it's a good idea.

My guess is that voice recognition will soon come to all platforms, and that Microsoft simply gets it first because they paid extra for it.

Edit:
More to your point, I suppose, but I don't think that there will be motion capture controls for Skyrim. It's possible, but not very likely.

Actually since both Move and Connect work through gestures then it should be no problem for Move and Connect to work with Melee and Blocking.

Does Move support voice input?

I think it would be great if the PS 3 can get this support.

Anything that lets gamers enjoy their games more is a plus.

As far as I read, Bethesda made it clear the Kinect won't support combat, and that motion controls just wouldn't work for Skyrim, so all the Kinect will be used for will be menu navigation and dragon shouts. Unless the PS3 has an equivalent to that function of the Kinect with one of its own peripherals, I don't think it'll happen.

I very much doubt that bethesda are adding kinect support out of the kindness of their hearts, if sony paid bethesda to incorporate move support then it might happen. But just saying ' 'xbox got something so we should get something' is like a spoiled child been jealous of their brother getting some new shoes and expecting the same.

Because gimmicks like that are a pointless waste of valuable resources and time. There's bound to be more to Kinect being added than Beth just deciding to throw it in, MS have that kind of disposable income to throw around.

Skyrim's combat movements really aren't free enough to work with the Move either, the combat is the best it's ever been but it's still rigid compared to other games. It just wouldn't translate well to Move controls.

If after they've fixed as many bugs as possible and implemented more Gamejam content Beth decide to throw in Move support, then fantastic. More ways for players to have fun, the whole point of gaming. Until such a time, no, enough with the gimmicks already.

Kinect probably wasn't just a random addition to the game before other more interesting content, MS most likely have a hand in its involvement at this stage, despite the fact it was shown in Gamejam. The fact it was is probably what brought it to MS's attention in the first place, unless Beth negotiated a nice little payment in the background to implement it fully.

Either way, until they've cleared up all the important stuff, I can live quite comfortably without more frivolous gimmicks in my games.

How is the Kinect support a "pointless waste of valuable resources and time."?

If anything, it saves you valuable time. No more using that subpar Favorites menu to rifle through all your shouts, spells weapons etc. It's like a voice hotkey system. Plus inventory/follower management is cool.

It's a waste of Bethesda's time. Not ours. Inventory sorting can be implemented without Kinect, but we're most likely going to have to wait for the version that doesn't require it which nullifies the impact it's really going to have.

It's a gimmick nothing more. It's what Kinect and all forms of motion control are and always will be, they may be fun, but they're just a gimmick. Control pads and keyboard and mouse work fine don't they?

Don't fix what isn't broken. (Very ironic considering the forum we're on)

The system needs work, but it works... sort of.

Kinect integration is wonderful and everything, but it's something that at present only helps a third (if not less than that) of Skyrim's actual player base. Beth's time would be better spent doing something that benefits the many rather than the few.

All of us may well get the inventory sorting feature in a new patch, but how long will we have to wait for it compared to those that own Kinect?

gawd please no.

pointless waste of effort. i really hope we are NOT seeing the dawning of TES 6: The Sports Action Series.

At the point where motion controllers become requisite for playing TES is when I will never play the games again. I don't have a kinect - I may someday get one - but I NEVER want to be forced into using voice commands to play. This is because most of my gaming time is after kids are in bed.

Not to mention that in 90% of games it works like [censored] anyway.

You want them to recode the entire engine for some gimmick..?

I'd rather see some of the things from Gamejam (Kinect shouts aside) make it in to the final cut.
