why oblivion and morrowind [censored] keep trolling this for

Post » Thu Jun 21, 2012 5:30 pm

I usually see posts where someone just jump in and post something about how oblivion or morrowind were better for them,
now i got a couple of questions for these people:

1- why don't you post your thoughts in the related morrowind or oblivion section?
2- why we should care about either morrowind or oblivion if clearly we are talking about skyrim?
3- have you ever thought that maybe some of us played these games too and just don't care?

EDIT: also there is THIS section for comparing titles http://www.gamesas.com/forum/26-the-elder-scrolls-series-discussion/

Answer to this:

Why you ignore all the thing cutted and bad designed by bethesda after years of "working" on skyrim?

Fear to admit isn't better of previous game?

Cause we are trying to make it completely obvious to Bethesda what old features we want back into the series....

...and obviously we didn't try hard enoguh in the Oblivion forums.

And the majority of us aren't after a Morrowind remake or anything.....just for some features to return.

If I thought Oblivion or Morrowind was as great as some think they are, I'd be too distracted by the sheer awesomeness of them as to never leave those forum sections. They must not be that great is Skyrim is on your mind instead.

1- why don't you post your thoughts in the related morrowind or oblivion section?

Because it is relevant to Skyrim and future TES games. If we can engage new and old players in an active discussion regarding features than this might effect the future of the franchise. Bethesda does read these forums as is evident by many things that are new in Skyrim but were highly demanded in the Oblivion board. Also Skyrim returns some features from Morrowind, like ingame transportation. So ''complaining'' about how ''Morrowind was better'' does help.

2- why we should care about either morrowind or oblivion if clearly we are talking about skyrim?

Because new players might not be aware of how gameplay mechanics used to work, and they might be convinced that the old systems were better.

3- have you ever thought that maybe some of us played these games too and just don't care?

Of course, but this is a discussion board. We share opinions on the game. If you don't care for the opinion of others than you shouldn't discuss the game.

1- why don't you post your thoughts in the related morrowind or oblivion section?

Because the point of Morrowind and Oblivion section is to talk about Morrowind and Oblivion, not Skyrim?

2- why we should care about either morrowind or oblivion if clearly we are talking about skyrim?

Because they can be referenced as comparative examples in a discussion about Skyrim?

3- have you ever thought that maybe some of us played these games too and just don't care?

Have you ever thought that you're the cancer killing videogame industry we don't care that you don't care?

1- that's why everu TES game has a proper forum section
2- that can be but if someone wants information about older TES games they can just look them up, both on the right forum section or the internet
3- this its a SKYRIM discussion board

obvious troll is obvious

1- then what makes the skyrim section an oblivion or morrowind section?
2- maybe once in a while, not constantly
3- whatever

That would be the wrong place.

We are saying features SKYRIM needs from previous games. It is a Skyrim discussion, therefore it goes here.

It's perfectly valid to use this forum to compare Skyrim not only to previous Elder Scrolls games, but Fallout 3 and even New Vegas. You could look at it in isolation and say, 'I like this aspect' or 'they should have done this', but saying 'they did this bit better than this game' or 'this worked here, why remove it?' is providing examples for your arguments without going into a ten page essay of what mechanics lie behind your ideas.

ok, here's an example of what usually happens:
let's say someone asks how mounts work in skyrim...
1st answer: yo mounts in skyrim svcks, they were better in oblivion
2nd answer: I dig that dude, skyrim svcks
...
100th answer: the actual answer to the question

does this seems right to you? not to me

The reason older games are discussed is to put progress into perspective.

not really, I've played all of them but arena.
It's just that if I come to a skyrim related thread I'd like to talk about skyrim and not previous titles, there is a proper forum thread for that, duh?

1. Because it could be relevant to the hypothetical discussion.
2. Because it could be relevant to the hypothetical discussion.
3. Yes, but it could be relevant to the hypothetical discussion.

This thread is dumb as its a vague rant against... mentioning other Bethesda titles or something? If its relevant to the discussion thats going on, why would it infuriate you so much?

Pretty much this.

Any constructive criticism that means we either get an improvement via a patch or it goes towards improving the next outing of the series is a winner for us all.
Just [censored]ing can be a pain in the ass though and some just stick in random [censored]e in topics where there is no need to bring the older games into, those posts tend to be from the more misserable crowd. You know, the kind of people who would win the lottery and still complain about having to fly down to London and pick the check up.

I'm gonna reference Skyrim. Many morrowind players remind me of Vignar Greymane. :D Everything that's old is better by default.

I liked it too, but there's a lot I didn't like. I don't see it with rose colored sunglasses. Which is probably the most annoying element of many gripe posts. You can't actually discuss anything with people like that.

You seem unable to comprehend that this is the proper forum to compare features in Skyrim and previous games.
